I think the Denso 197-6040 MAF sensor is another route you can go.

It’s the one @PhoS used for his procharger tune. Capable of reading more air volume. It’s an OEM sensor from an older WRX.

Would it be plug and play….other than making a tweak with hptuners

Seems so. I just bought one for my upcoming install. C2D081C3-81D6-4F8B-8BA2-C7707F6DBB8C.jpg

Is this a hard fact? If this is the case, I wouldn't mind adding it to page 1 at all.

@JustDSM is on board with it. I did some searches outside of TW and found it to be a regular swap.

I linked PhoS conversation on the Procharger thread above.

Edit: it will hopefully be a hard fact for me after I get this supercharger installed, which is on hold for some fabrication work I’ve been holding off on.

I will add it with a small footnote pending some sort of data results as an upgrade. I think I might had previously read something about it a while ago but there is so much going on in all these threads so often that it is hard to catch it all.

If this is indeed a good upgrade then this is a hell of a find for the OE MAF guys! Do you know what the original application for it is?

I see where the tradeoff is.

You lose airflow change sensitivity by switching to the lower resolution MAF but you gain the ability to move more airflow without the penalty of error codes like the OE one has been documented to do.

    Good stuff.

He, @JustDSM, and the owner used the Subi MAF sensor in the PreRunner turbo kit build that I did. As that setup at ~7-8 psi was maxing out the OEM MAF (although cheap autoparts replacement for OEM).

Hmm, so is there any need to upgrade the MAF if you've never gotten a code? Will this help with tuning MAF better in hptuners? I ran the volant stage 2 (front air intake tube) for a few years without getting codes. Just swapped to the AFE which has a better/larger intake design.

Mine first started throwing the maxed out MAF code after swapping to a 2.6 pulley. If you're running a bigger pulley, you probably wont have an issue, especially at elevation

    Ironically, I’m switching my 2.7 to a 2.8 in a couple weeks

I went from a 2.5 to a 2.6 a few months back. Just dont feel like pushing the limits and then having something go wrong. I rarely drive mine, but i really hate working on it lol

This is true. The only time you should be running a 2.5 or 2.6 pulley is if you have the intake and exhaust airflow requirements needed to be able to sustain the boost which the blower is creating. Running a pulley smaller than a 2.6 or 2.7 for our trucks would net you an over boost condition which would take you out of the blowers efficiency range at which point all you are doing is generating heat without any actual power gains.

Agreed, mine is a free flowing exhaust from the headers back, no cats and spraying water meth too for the extra heat

The 2.7 was fun and still is. My pulley mod is looking old and rusty. I’d rather take it off and just run a 2.8 to make up the slop. I don’t want to run a sliced belt to keep the 2.7.

Im running a Gates K050694 with my 2.6 and it didnt require any cutting. Might be a good option to ditch the pulley wrap mod and still keep the 2.7 if you want to go that route. I am running a Roush tensioner on mine and it doesn't seem like belt slip is much of an issue if at all

I'm running a 2.8 and no plans to tackle that swap again.
