Half screen map

I have seen pictures of Tacomas with the navigation map being half screen but I can only get mine to be full screen. Sometimes I'd like to see whats on the audio with the map still visible. I've tried the Home Screen Layout change and it's not an option. How do I do this? Is it that maybe I have a lower grade of audio system that this isn't available? Here's 3 pictures. First is of my system with audio and phone , etc and 2nd is my map (Waze). 3rd picture is a random Google pic of what I'd like to do. I have a '21 SR5. Thanks.

 

There should be a gear icon on the upper right. Is the engine off?

 

These were taken with the engine on.

 

Try it with the engine off. Some settings are disabled when running for safety reasons.

 

I have it that way on my 2021 so its doable, just have to keep messing with the settings. Shouldn't matter if the engine is running, now if the truck is in gear and moving at speed that might be different.

 

You can only do the split screen shown in the third photo when using the native maps application that comes with the truck from Toyota.

 

Not to hijack this thread but does anybody know how to make the 2021 OEM JBL system default to a single map screen (at startup)?

 

Good luck! I've tried and keeps defaulting to "home" unless I plug my phone in to Carplay. Then I get Waze to autostart...only somewhat workaround. If you find out...let me know!
