Who has an AK (and variants)?

Ammo depo has 'decent' price on x.39 rounds, not great, but not as inflated as some store have become.

PMAGS are good and cheap. Seen good things about the new Palmetto waffles.

 

They ain't got that BHO that i've seen in some descriptions. Do I want BHO?

Are PSA mags relatively new? As in, can I have had these mags in my closet since before 2012?

 

BHO is nice but honestly it’s an AK and wasn’t intended for the design. If it was, Mikhail would’ve made it so.

PSA mags are brand new for this year. Honestly it just based on a Bulgarian waffle but the mag really isn’t any different than any other mag. AKs aren’t as picky when it comes to mags as HK’s.

 

Really a personal preference IMO. I'm not use to them so when I have used them it has thrown off my mag change rhythm. Maybe get a couple of each and see what you prefer.

As Sleipnir said the PSA AK Mags are fairly new so doubtful on your old closet mags. But probably fine to use.

 

It may not look like I sanded it a lot, but the thumb hole has been opened up and the hand grip feels a lot better. I’ll stain and tru-oil it this weekend.

Yeah, the last one was a bitch to take off, like it was glued on.

 

Did a little DIY project with an enamel painted Chinese 56-3 Red “Bakelite” stock. Traded a buddy a plum ribbed 45 for this stock.



We weren’t sure if the paint was coming off or not but I had to do some harsh sanding exposing the micarta.







I dropped it in a pan of oil and it’s been sitting for about an hour with these results. I’m going to let it sit for 24 and see how we look.

Presuming that rear lug is steel, this isn't a prototype, it's the first production AG4C mag the soviets made. It's got a mold number. The protos don't have a mold number, have AG4C rear lugs, and are break o matics. PM sent. I'm interested.

Just as a point of reference, LA on GB sold a proto 'type 0' with the plastic rear lug within the last year for $800. Those are significantly more rare than the type 1, I'd imagine that few intact examples survive to this day, and I doubt many are in the US.

 

Some really nice AKs in here. I've had a few nice ones over the years, including a Type 58, which I loved! But had to sell them all unfortunately. Would love to buy a basic good Romanian or Polish just to have one again. Just to clarify, is this thread only show and tell or is it also a buy/sell thread too?
