Before I built my Prinsu-esque knockoff truck cap rack, for a time I ran my tent on two aluminum extrusion bars using Prinsu feet I picked up here on TW used. I later used those two bars when building the whole rack. It was plenty solid.

I don't even know if you'd consider this an RTT or not - but I've had it since July and slept almost 60 days in it so far. Its been absolutely bomber, only a little leaky in the rain, which i tried to fix but I haven't been able to test it fully yet. I'm about $900 into it - the tent and shell together were $600 and got a new mattress and some bike racks for the integrated rails. It's truly an awesome setup - and mileage is no worse than a regular fiberglass topper.

Got the tent loaded up. Man this thing is nice.

First trip is tomorrow. Kokopelli trail from Grand Junction CO to Moab UT, including the Top of the World trail. Can’t wait!

I fucked up on the feet and didn’t order enough, and had to use feet from my old roof rack so it sits too high for my taste. New feet are on order to get this as low as possible, while allowing for flex of the cab and bed.

I like camping at Cachuma Lake. Haven’t camped there since doing the rtt style camping though. Gotta go back there sometime. Wifey is from Buellton, so makes it easy to visit family up that way. :)

We are a 23Zero Dealer feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Their quality is amazing however their lack of color options can be a deterrent.

Yeah!! I've got +8' of standing room in the bed and a full size mattress on the other side! the whole tent folds up into the top of the topper, with it all folded up you've got only a little less space than in a normal cab-high shell. And about another 100 pounds or so :D

Our first trip with the CVT Mt Hood medium was a blast.

    9F56798C-A512-4C8D-B10B-5B50A7B28B93.jpg
(Note that it fucking poured the day before the trip so the trail was a sloppy muddy mess that even got the top of the tent muddy)

We did about 80 miles of the Kokopelli trail between Fruita CO and Moab UT. Super super muddy, which made the wheeling a little challenging. Then we ran the Top of the World trail. Something like 100 miles of dirt, hard wheeling with a ton of slider/skid/bumper banging action. The tent never felt tippy or took away from the off roading.

The tent is so fast to set up. Plus since we got the double channel version, it holds all the bedding. It’s spacious and the stock mattress is stiff but comfy. We may try to add an thin egg crate topper to make it softer.

I originally had front runner roof racks and pulled them to just use two simple slats to support the tent with low profile feet. Well I’m an idiot and didn’t order enough feet. So I cannibalized extra feet from the front runner rack. It held up great but it’s like 2 1/2” higher than I want it mounted. So I wait for the new low profile feet to drop this thing down as low as possible to reduce the center of gravity.

A couple shots from my 10 day trip that I just returned from.

    20211009_165621.jpg

I was trying to find a way to open the fly over the cab, I was working out some elaborate little adaptor to build for the roof rack, when I had the thought to just tie it off with a piece of paracord. It ended up working very well, and I am going to make up a section of cord with some shock cord to help with the wind, and maybe a toggle to make it a bit easier to attach the grommet

    20211010_130813.jpg

After 30 nights, I have discovered that the swing portion of the floor is taking a beating, and starting to become buckle. I contacted OVS and they asked for some pictures, and a video to show them what happening.

    20211018_105501.jpg

You can see where the panel is bending and warping, from climbing in an out. not only that but as someone else said to me, sounds like crawling across bubble wrap.

It was not more than a couple hours after I sent the request pictures, I received an email from there customer support that a new floor panel was being shipped out.
