It's been a minute, but I recall there being a "Vehicle Settings" button, that allowed you to change things like what happens to the locks when shifting from Park or Drive, or adjust the beep loudness when locking the truck, and other similar settings.

If you go with Joying, you will not need to hunt down the bigger bezel as it takes minimal space when installed plus a bigger HD screen.

I feel with the technology we have today and what Toyota put in their vehicles for infotainment is outdated from the 90's to save big money.

Joying actually gives you that function still. Its under "Car Info." Look for the icon, its not in settings. All those settings are there.

I previously purchased Carista to change those functions, now they are Free99 with the deck.

The main unit will fit inside where the oem radio. The questions is what size screen do you want to go with. They have any where from 6.95” to 13.3” screen that they just released after I purchased a 11.6” for my 4Runner. The 13.3” looks like it can rotate vertically or horizontally.

This is what a 10.5 will look like on the Tacoma. I will have what a 11.6 will look like soon when I receive it if anyone wants to see what it will look like.

That looks good but I think I'd prefer it to sit in and flush like the factory one does. Is that possible?

It's possible, you will be looking for the larger oem bezel to fit the 9" screen.

Or you would have to measure your oem deck and see if Joying has a smaller screen that will fit your current bezel.

So as it turns out I HAVE seen those options in the "Car Info" app, however not a single one of them worked for me. The TPMS doesn't work, nor does the fuel tracker, or anything else in there unfortunately.

Did Carista allow you to toggle all those settings? Thanks!

it will only allow you to toggle those features if your vehicles has those features. Every vehicle is different.

If tpms is not working, I’m guessing it’s only used when you purchase their aftermarket tpms sensors. Your oem tpms should be working and should still be visible in the cluster?

For my ‘19, I can adjust how loud I want the beep noise when I arm/disarm the truck which I needed Carista to do at the time.

Yeah, I can still see the TPMS in the dash cluster, so no biggie there. Unfortunately no settings in the Car Info works for me, so I’m going to look into Carista to change those settings.

Do you know if Carista has the ability to change all of the stock settings that usually come on the stock head unit?

    Thanks!

Carista will scan your truck and let your modify what’s available.

Has anyone seen/heard the Toyota specific door speakers from Memphis audio? From what I can see they are the same as their universa model, but the mounting points are already in the right place for Toyota vehicles with connectors also.Do you like Memphis?

I have the joying 9” and for whatever reason my unit does not want to automatically connect to my iPhone. I just recently did the most recent firmware update via USB, but is there a common mistake I am missing to get the unit to jump on to my iphones hotspot more seamlessly?

I am currently experiencing no connection unless I force it via saved networks, and even that is hit or miss. The unit is picking up wifi almost half mile away but it can’t seem to pick up my iPhone 2 inches away. Rebooting my phone seems to help, but seems like I’m missing something. Any help would be super appreciated!

It should be connecting to bluetooth first, then swaps over to wifi. If your BT is off, or not paired, you will have a rough time.

Thanks for that. Bluetooth connects right away and has been great, but the wifi just doesn’t want to connect. I was thinking maybe it had to do with the MAC settings, but experimented with use device Mac and the other setting, but to no avail.

    hi guys,

just installed this HU last night and overall it was pretty easy. I removed the factory mic from the overhead console and shoved the new one in. Routed it down the a-pillar and behind the gauge cluster to the back of the HU. however in testing the call experience, the mic is not performing well. it seems to echo/pickup background noise and when i speak it sounds like i'm far away.

i have to take the HU back out this evening since i guessed wrong on the backup camera input (lol) and will check to see that i have the mic connector fully seated. otherwise, is there any kind of mic settings page somewhere for adjustment? anyone else experience this?

for the record i do have the latest firmware installed. Joying website chat sent me a direct link last night after verifying what HU i have.

The headunit has a built in mic on the front of the unit, just use that it works better.

well shit. wasted effort on my part then to install the wired one all neatly and hidden, but oh well.

do i activate the built in mic by just unplugging the other from the back, or can I switch back and forth from somewhere in the settings?
