For my military AG brethren, I got my CMP 1911A1 today and love it! It is a complete Frankenstein of early and post-war parts - just what I carried in the late 70s and early 80s before the Army moved to the Beretta M9...which I hated. This thing has a Remington Rand frame, a Colt replacement slide and a post WWII barrel. Strangely, the mainspring housing dates to no later than '43. I'll take it out tomorrow and run a few rounds through it.

She’s gorgeous! I have no real reason to buy a 1911 but I’ve always wanted one. I’ve got a full size and compact sidearm already. Former Army armorer, I hated the M9s. I hear the new Sigs are pretty decent though!

Got some 265/75's last week and installed my Bilstein's and rear block for a bit of lift. One thing I noticed right away with the Bilstein's was better control from side to side - this one gravel road I drive almost every day has 2 speed bumps at the end of the road that are diagonally across the road - the truck now has way more control from side to side as I go over the bumps - and my bike rack doesn't wiggle back and forth as much either :thumbsup:

Upgraded to 285s, what do y’all think? Should I get spacers to make it more aggressive?

Beautiful 1911. Still the best triggers on any pistol produced.

Looks pretty good as is. What suspension upgrades have you done so far?

I washed the Tacoma this morning and then took the M1911A1 down to the little range we have here at home. I familiarized myself with how it shoots and then shot a 7 round magazine, rapid fire at 20 yards. I shoot a pistol left handed - my natural aim point is just a bit low/right and I pushed one round. Not too bad for a 76 year old .45cal pistol and a 66 year old retired Army Colonel.

That’s a tight shot group, COL! Age ain’t a thing for a properly maintained firearm. I’ve got a Cold War era CZ that runs pretty well despite being seized up in every way when it fell into my possession.

Just out of curiosity, why is that? My initial thought is that color wouldn't matter, but I'm no paint expert.

Does anyone else like the chrome bumper better than the paint matched option? I generally dislike chrome on any vehicle, but I guess a lifetime of seeing chrome bumpers on trucks has influenced me to make an exception for truck bumpers.

I personally dislike chrome bumpers, and even more so for an off-road setup.

You are wrong, and we must fight to the death. :duel:

Seriously though, those chrome bumpers are a dying breed. I'll be surprised if they even offer it on the 4th gen. You're the one who's on the right side of history here.

Dunno. This paint is a bit more challenging to deal with than my 06 with Speedway Blue was, which had clear.

This is my first forray into paint with no clear coat on top. The metallics almost always get cleared...I do not know the science behind it.
