I have a 3rd gen. I ordered from wheelers and let them know I wanted to keep stock height, they said they would assemble at the lowest height which I assumed would have been 2/1. However they sent me both driver and passenger side set at 1. I reached out and they offered to send a spacer or send back to have them re assemble (which after a month wait the first time I wasn’t going to do). I just said f it and got them installed, however I don’t notice any lean or anything. It’s been about 3 weeks now. It passes the eye test as far as looking level, and I take an actual level out which shows it as level on the tailgate, front of the bed, and when I place it on the front bumper. Am I crazy or lucky? Is the infamous lean not a thing on all tacomas?

From my experience, it depends on whether they are going on a 2nd or 3rd gen. 2nd gens generally use the top hat spacer 1/4", and the 3rd gens are offset (6/5, 5/4 etc.). I still have the 1/4" top hat spacer on my driver's side front in my 2nd gen. Also, when assembling the springs, make sure that the number on the spring can be read when on the truck. Like this:

I reused the hardware, then came two turns from losing my top nuts entirely... in the valley of the gods.

    Use new hardware, cheap insurance.

I did this as well but on 4/4 and don’t notice any kind of lean either, I think I remember reading some people did this with the same result

I used the truck’s weight to compress the spring with the LCA. Ive done this several times with no spring compressor and no issues. This is actually the safest way I have found since the control arms and spindle will keep the spring from flying anywhere.

Yeah I had 285s on my stock wheels on my 2020. I actually didn't even try without them on my current set up with the Camburg uppers, but i would assume they would still rub.

Damn, I was hoping they would clear. My 21 OR is due early October and I'm going to lift it with Bilstein 6112-5160's and all-pro UCA's and wanted to use the stock wheels. I have read that with aftermarket UCA's they would clear. Thanks again for your help.

I just went out and looked at it. It MAY be possible to run without. I have the Camburg ball joint UCAs and i have about 2 inches between my upper and my tire. But then the tires would be in the wheel well more and i think that may make it rub more on the cab mount, or i could be totally wrong. I plan on doing the CMC soon anyways.

Thanks Jim. The off-road shop I've been talking to said the stock OR wheels will clear clear the cab mount and inner fenders, the UCA would be where it would rub. They said with aftermarket UCA's it will clear. It seems that these trucks are very individual... The look of your truck is exactly what I was hoping to end up with. Thanks again.

I have a 3rd gen DCLB. Right now, I just have rock sliders. In the future, I'm planning on a high clearance rear bumper and steel skids. Not planning on a front steel bumper. Would I be fine with 600lbs springs or should I get 650lbs springs?

Go with 600lb springs for now. You will be fine. If you ever upgrade to a front bumper and winch or skid plate trio, then you can always upgrade to 650lb springs.

Just adding my input. Bought these with the 650lbs springs and i didn’t enjoy it too much. Pretty stiff.

After about 10-15k I installed the 600lbs springs and the truck feels much better. I just have side steps and a camper shell. And usually about 180lbs of dogs inside. Love the ride now

I think it depends on tires too, I had a 2wd (that may have been the reason) with 5100s on the top notch with only spacers and stock UCAs and I did not rub. Those were BFG KO2s though, which were a tiny bit smaller than the Geolanders.

I currently have a 13 TRD sport 4x4. I lifted it 1.8" with 5100's, stock sport wheels and 275/70/17 ko2's. It rubbed the stock UCA slightly at full lock. Livable. The sport wheel has a +30 offset. The off-road has a +25 offset. The 285's are around 3/8's" wider. According to the off road shop, that difference along with the extra clearance of the aftermarket UCA's will clear. We'll see. I sure hope so as that's the way I'm heading when my new off-road gets here next week.

Hello everyone, I’m new here to the truck world. I know I need to upgrade my leaf system and shocks if I add weights in the back. I just got an RSI smartcap 180lbs and will be adding a RTT 160lbs. I did some digging around and I heard Deaver stage 2 fits my need with 400-600lbs additional load. Might add a decked system and a canopy down the road with a prinsu roof rack.

what would be an ideal setup shocks or whatever I need to fit my needs? I will have a constant load of 200lbs for sure. The deaver stage one rate 0-300lbs and I believe the stage 2 is better for my long term needs. 6112/5160 Blisten will do? All these trucks suspension stuff is really confusing and I just want an okay setup before my camping trip this spring. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hi folks, first post and thx for all the great info from TW members.

Vehicle is 21 OR double cab with newly installed 6112/5160 on 6/5 setting with rear add a leaf.
Running 3 steel RCI skids underneath with Apex ALL Pro sliders with fill plates. Replaced stock bump stops with Duro Bumps upfront left stock UCA's in place for now. MX4 BakFlip tonneau cover.
Total lift is close to 2 inches from center hub to body front and rear. Looks fantastic.

Issue is I am hitting what sounds like front bump stop on passenger side on a regular basis. Before the basic 6112 kit I was running stock suspension with the RCI skids and Apex sliders and I had to give up driving off road completely and hitting any small road pot hole would cause the passenger side stock bumps engage. Drove me friggin nuts.

Fast forward to new 6112/5160 suspension and no more bump stock hits on pavement.....until I hit the logging road. I go solo down the logging road and things are fine until I start hitting the larget pot holes. Than the bump stop clunks reappeared( or what I believe to be bum stops) on front passenger side. What the frik?
Next I take my rig on a pavement road trip 4-1/2 drive with 3 smaller female passengers and anytime the road got crappy I was hitting front passenger bump stop pissing me off the whole trip.

Ive checked the skids, sliders and struts for loose nuts and bolts and everything is tight.

Time to get the opinions of TW. Am I to high at 6/5? Are the 600 lb springs not up to the weight? Am I topping out?

Thx for the reply. The noise was definitely worse with new 6112 at highway speed with four passengers and luggage than me solo and no luggage. When I was getting the noise before the 6112 install I took it back to the shop who installed the sliders and skids. They found no issues and believed the 6112 would solve it as it was a bump stop issue. I had the 6112 put on in a different shop but may take it back to original shop who deal in offroad mechanics.

After thinking about this today I might have a plan of elimination.
    1. Go to logging road to replicate issue
    2. Mark with chalk or something so I can see if bump stops are the noise. Possibly hook up go pro to have camera footage underneath.
    4. Remove one skid plate then drive to try and replicate issue. If able to replicate remove next plate etc.
    5. Reinstall plates try and replicate noise
    6. Remove passenger slider try and replicate noise.
    7. Remove both sliders try and replicate noise.
    8. Remove both sliders and skids and try and replicate noise.

This would be the most cost effective way to look at the issue I think. It will be a little time consuming and the rainy season is here so that sucks.

First Time posting, need some advice. I have a 2015 taco sport 4x4. I bought the 6112/5160 on the 5th clip, icon 1.5 AAL & spc uca's. I am going to run 285/70/17 wildpeaks at3s. I am 90% on dry pavement

1st question - is the front diff drop necessary?
2nd - i called a local shop in long island to get a quote to install everything and he said with the AAL it's going to ride stiff and that he recommends blocks in the rear, is this true?
3rd - i ordered the 1-4 top plate spacer for the driver side taco lean, do you think i will need it?
