But what about the trail edition, with the lift and whatnot? Seems like an option

I would’ve been in the market for a Pro but I prefer the long bed. I’m in the waiting for a 21/22 crew so I can’t speak to the difference much, but I didn’t consider the Pro without it.

Anyone out there with a Pro get by hauling a dirt bike all the time with the short bed?

    I came from a 2012 Baja and got a 21 Offroad.

For me, it came down to budget. I didnt want to spend $45k on a new truck. If the Pro package could be had with just the shocks and wheels on the basic OR package, it would have been perfect. But I am not into leather, the JBL radio all the parking sensors, sunroof, etc. So for what I want to do a $36k basic OR was the easy answer and I can then add whatever lift and stuff I like/need, coming in way under the cost of a Pro with a bunch of options I dont want.

Manual Trans Base OR stickers around 37K so sounds like he managed to get a grand or so off, which is good these days for sure.

Between those 2 options, I'd go OR over the Pro. That said, I'd probably go SR and build myself, if it was my own money. Are you a buy and drive or do you enjoy the work and customization?

I got the manual OR this past xmas and I love it and can't imagine needing much more but if you want the pro and its in your budget get what makes you happy!

I got a diamond back cover since my truck came without one, added some homemade mounts in the bed and a rubber mat and I was good to go.

I plan on modding so I got the OR. Whichever truck you chose, I am sure you will be happy.

When I bought it in March there was still $1000 off from Toyota. So I ended up at $36k and change for a base OR with LED headlights as the only option. They are fantastic OP and for $600 you should 100% order them.

My opinion..which isn’t worth too much, is if you going to stay mostly stock and leave the suspension alone I would go Pro. If you plan to go all out with it I would save the $$ and just get the Off-road w/ Premium & Tech packages and mod as you like.

I just got a 21 TRD Offroad with the Premium Offroad package and Advanced Technology package.

I saved about $3,000 over a pro. I didn't get the pro suspension (going to change it anyway), Hood scoop (didn't want), heritage grill (ordered one), skid plate (prefer aftermarket) and pro exhaust and intake (probably going aftermarket, might just leave it), wheels (changing anyway), and red stitched interior (big didn't want), pro fog lights and headlights (don't care).

I probably could have recouped the added cost by selling bits I took off, but fine without dealing with the hassle.

Originally ordered a lower spec offroad in cement, but cement went away for 22, and they had the one I got on the way in super white. Otherwise, I would have been waiting months for an offroad closer to what I ordered, or who knows how long for a pro.

I’m like a couple others, I want the 6’ bed. Very happy that for 22 I can get the OR LWB in Lunar Rock with factory LEDs. I’ll add the roadwire leather (sunroof headliner takes up too much rear seat headroom for me), Upgrade suspension to Icon or Fox 2.5, Dakar leafs, and possibly TRD Pro rims.

I'm in a similar position to OP but was considering getting the sr5 trail edition but i got quotes on it yesterday and its extremely high @ $43,733 MSRP. In OR premium territory here with this pricing.

I wanted the trail as it has all the 1st mods i would do anyways and i could just drive it stock as its a good package for what i would want for me personally. But i was expecting this to be more 40K MSRP being its just a sr5.. doesnt even have LED headlights... Making me consider saving up for a 22 PRO at 5k more which i would be happier with anyways.

The same dealer that gave me the trail pricing said they wont have MSRP on 22 TRD Pro's until later this year and expects them to take a year to come in.... WTF. They have been extremely on point and trustworthy up until that info so idk the truth.

I posted this in the 22 thread but here is the breakdown i was giving for a 22 Trail in Lunar Rock. I have not seen a single other dealer quote on a trail posted to the internet besides this, ive really been trying to retrieve this and finally got it yesterday. I was told This is as bone stock as i can get it by the dealer. All the add ons are required by southeast toyota due to there "deal" they have with them. Not sure the truth on that but the trail package itself is $1,990 more than the 21 model and this is the only dealership i can find that is willing to quote it/allow allocation. They also told me the trail edition is going to be extremely limited. Supposedly there is only 70 trucks on this allocation.

I was expecting more 42-43k out the door not going on 47k

As others posted, I like the 6’ bed which the Pro does not have. I have seen others discuss the 5’ bed is better for actual off roading which is true but… the % of TRD PRO’s owned and actually off roading is at most 15%.
