Yesterday was a sad day for the 4th gen #4. My daughter was hit in the rear while driving along a street busy street.

We think the driver was texting and didn't see her. She was rolling along around 20 mph when a big white pickup decided to drive through the rear end. It was not a collision from stopping.

The strange coincidence is that our 1st 4th gen (95 black SE 5MT) was rear-ended and totaled on the same street near the same area by a texting driver.

Since the car is a 98 model with over 254,000 miles, I know they will give some salvage value price.

Whatever they give, I will need to find a way to keep this one rolling. Even with the high mileage, it's a great running and driving car. It's been one of the most trouble-free cars that we've owned regardless of make.

I have a workshop full of spare parts for 4th gens. So I don't need to buy anything should they need anything.

Last night, I went looking for another 4th gen to replace it. The prices are as crazy as everything else right now.

We may be driving this one wrecked for a while until I can find the replacement parts from a salvage yard.

My other problem is my body shop guy who did good work at a reasonable price sold his business and went to work as a plumber.

So I'll need to find another shop that will work for cash....

When my brother ran into my bedside on the 04 we had 3-4 bad hailstorms over the spring/summer. No work was being done without an insurance claim. Not fun.

Now that's a record. On the first 4th gen's total, the insurance adjuster was cool. I think they gave me something like $2,700 then I bought the car back for $300. But that was 10 years ago. I only paid $1,600 for the car, to begin with. I sold it to some guy for $700 who drove it for 3 years with a bashed-in trunk and traded it for a Tundra. It never stopped running.

Looking forward to the cool weather we're having all day.

Just waiting for the rain to pause for a moment as Stephanie's battery finally croaked in her car.

That seams to happen Always at the worst time. I was trying to meet up with @BartMaster1234 a few years back to drop off your diff with him and mine died at the Costco gas station in Fremont.

That sorta looks like the spot on Fins n Things where you go straight down the side of the rock (not the part shown in the pic, the steeper part is more camera left). We watched Sean do it in his truggy but the rest of us opted out lol.

Looks like the hill on fins n things that Sean almost toppled on. Would post pics but bad reception right now.

Stood in that exact spot a year ago next week. Crazy.

Yeah with those giant ass tires I think he was the only who safely could, rest of us would've gone head over heels if we'd tried

My battery died while I was listening to the radio outside a Concentra office. Luckily it was near a Home Depot so I went in a bought this
    [IMG]
Worked like a charm and saved me the trouble of finding a jump so now I just keep it in the back. Going to get one for my wife's Rav4 too.

We have one of these smaller ones I keep in my wife's Rav4, it's come in handy for her a few times back when she had her older Honda Accord. I went to use it last weekend when my truck's battery was dead but we hadn't charged it in so long that it was too low to use. I had to use my jumper cables like a poor person.

I would definitely want something bigger like the one you got for a larger SUV/truck though.
