Be careful, if the bottle is sharp edge. Could put a piece of tape along the cut edge of it too. Happy sanding

Nice when a plan works out -- even nicer when it is a cheap plan!

Feeling like a long day today. Taking care of paperwork from a job finished yesterday and then looking at a couple of pump shafts at the warehouse. I need to make a couple more of these pump shafts and needed to verify which ones, 8" or 10" impeller. Coworker told me we needed shafts for 10" impeller but I see we have 2 of those ready to go but no 8". I have a couple shafts that were turned between centers in the shop, they just need threads and key way put in.
I think just go hang up my new cord reels for today though.
New guy starts next week....I'll toss him into the fire..
Sounds like he either going to be fairly skilled and talented or full of hot air...
It actually sounds like we might have some things in common and I'm hopeful maybe my work will be fun again.

Work & fun  .... Can't remember the last time I used those two words in the same sentence. :notsure:

Oh, wait.. My last job was a cross between a sewer and a coal mine and managed completely by random, that might be why.

I'd have to say my first 2 years here maybe more like 3 years I had a good time. After 3 years both of my original coworkers in the machine shop left. One retired and one went to planning. Both retired now. The second guy I worked with, we had a bit of fun but after 5 years he left to take over family farming operations.
I think in the beginning here when I first started anyway, most of the management respected our abilities as machinist, but now the group in there hasn't a clue. Don't even need machinist, just a master car catalog.

I used to ask my grandmother about the depression and she said she never felt it being they lived on a farm. They stayed on the farm and they never had a problem "Use it up... Wear it out... Make it do... Or do without"

My M-I-L says about the same thing, they had the farm so plenty of food. I believe there was some money in the family too.

Damn... that's good. I'm okay with a blue wrench, but not even in the same galaxy as that.

The interesting thing about the depression depending where you lived and how you lived things never really changed.

Grand parents had about 100 acres from 30 to 50 milking cows a huge garden electric in the milk house and barn .

Though Grandma did have interesting concepts about cooking . The donuts cooked at home were so tasty .

It was a farm nothing of any use was ever tossed out then it was not quite so easy to throw things out in those days
