From what I read they are bomb proof. Also i9 600 Poe is more of a bragging right than needed. I was reading how the hub flexes and expands.

IMO it’s probably not much different than a very firm 100 Poe hub once full power makes it to the ground.

More than likely auto. They seem to always have a discount of some kind floating around: SUMMER, FALL, SPRING, etc. Its not always applicable to all products/brands though. Generally seems to be legit discounts vs other sites though. Meaning their normal list price isn't inflated and then on par with others after the discount.

100 POE vs 600+ is noticeable. Not saying that everyone should have a hydra or bust mentality, but simply that any rider that is even aware of their hubs POE will notice the difference.

I feel like I read or heard that around 200+ is were it becomes difficult to differentiate for most riders.

I'm sure they are bombproof. I9 POE is a nice to have but not a requirement. I assure you it is a noticeable upgrade and I'll never go back to crappy hubs.

I was listening to a Pinkbike podcast the other day and there was a heated argument about this very subject. There seemed to be more people in the better hub camp than better rims but to each his own. If I did not have a bunch of tech climbs my point of view might be different.

For sure it’s noticeable. I’ve been on several from 18 Poe sram to hydras for a test ride. What I’m saying is you’re not putting power down till the hub and drive unit flex enough for 3 teeth to make contact. Technically yes it has 600 Poe, but the whole .5 degrees has most people thinking that.5 degrees I have power on ground. I wish they would tell you from the pedal stroke to full power what degree input that happens at. I’m sure it’s still small like probably 2-3 degrees, but still that’s incredible and at 2-3* you’re basically riding a 200-400 poe.

I start to pedal and my wheel moves sooner with a Hydra hub than any other I have used. It is that simple.

I am coming from a strictly user experience standpoint so take it for what its worth.

    They all work though.

True, what gear you're in makes a difference. and what speed you're going makes a difference. you effectively ahve to chase down the teeth to get the power to the ground. and that depends on a few factors.

I woudl think better rims..that's closer to your point of contact with the ground. if it breaks then you're SOL'd...

A great point made was that rims were a "wear item" like tires.

Maybe I'm just dumb (no shocker there) but I don't really follow what you're saying. The only time I notice lack of power being put to the drivetrain efficiently with hydras is when the dummy pedaling (me) is in the wrong gear for the speed/terrain.

Otherwise its power down full time. Can't say I've felt that with any other hub.

I've read some of this on pinkbike or somewhere. It is just "internet engineer" speak to somehow delegitimize hydra hubs awesomeness. Not that I have a bias or anything lol.
