We do have a babysitter but our daughter is coming up on 2 yrs old now and a daycare will be a better learning environment than just having a babysitter (social interaction with other kids, mostly)

I take her to the neighborhood playground every day after work, the first couple months we did that I think became immunized to most kid diseases. That was a rough couple months

Well, don't make it an effort to meet with @JKO1998

He'll share his meat once with you, and cut you off.

I mean have you seen @xtremewlr lately? He's going through withdrawals...

Stephanie has encouraged me to do so, and just work from home.

She's making more money than me now that I'm unemployed, and she got a raise earlier this year already with another raise next year, and one more after getting her Masters.

I think it's a great option if one of the parents is able to do it. Realistically you only have to for the first few years until they go into preschool or kindergarten, then you start job searching again. Won't be like you'll never work again until they're 18 or something

On an unrelated subject; what would you go to school for (aside from welding) if you had a chance?

I'll have 18 months left of free schooling after I graduate.

I would do another trade program probably. Open up even more doors/options for later

Or if there's a local community college near you, grab a copy of their class offerings and peruse through it...some of them offer some really unique class subjects

Do they have a machine shop, the skills you learn in there are invaluable for making things efficiently and accurately. If income is a greater concern, get into CAD or better yet CAM.

So the idea of something to add with welding has occurred.

But also the idea of something new comes up.

More votes for a supportive training to go with welding it seems.

I'll look ahead and see who offers what, since I've got like 9 months to go anyway.

I figure welding is a good start, but from what I’ve seen many professional welders don’t have the agency in their own careers to really set a direction. Some do, but I think having a good background in the bigger picture of how stuff gets designed would be valuable.
