Pro if you are leaving stock.
Off road if you plan on heavily modding.

or Pro just because who gives a fuck and you are baller.

 

Yes, the lights are the same functionality and performance. Only difference is the “TRD” and “PRO” lettering in the light and a small 1”chrome ring surrounding the DRL on the non-pro version

 

Huge upgrade over halogen lights but not worth changing over the LED OR lights IMO unless you bhlm

 

Get off-road if you are going to mod. Get Pro if you want to retain value in the long run. Gotta consider pricing too, I would say off-road is more worth it IMO.

 

Well I located a dealer that is supposedly a mark up free dealer.
Put down a deposit on a 2022 TRD PRO, with unknown ETA.
As long as it is MSRP and no "Market adjustment" I could care less if it arrives end of this year.

 

Yup without a 6 foot box miminum, a truck starts to become useless.

Also, most who own a 4x4 of any type, own it to drive it on pavement. If you need Pro because you plan to do hardcore offroading every week, then a Pro “almost” makes sense.

I say almost as my 2016 offroad, is my 4th 4x4 in the last 35 years. Not my best either. Best was a stock 1986 F150. Two door, fromt bench seat, straight 6 300 cyl, 4 speed manual, steel floors, inside door panels steel, interior ceiling steel, no A/C, no carpet anywhere, no power anything except front brakes. Thirteen years and replaced one clutch, and brakes. About 50,000 offroad miles. Truck was indestructible.

My 2016 off road is second hand. I have had it 3.5 years, and about 120 offroad trips now, close to 11,000 offroad mile so far. I drive frequently on ATV trails. No lift, KO2 265 70 16, Bilstein 5100 and a TRD skid plate as the stock one was soon full of holes. The TRD skid plate is beat too.

Those are my only “mods”, and I don’t need anymore to use it weekly for some pretty bad offroading. Mind you, I have already replaced my front CV axles, wheel hubs, and needle bearing due to beating it up. They are light duty trucks, my old F150 never required any front end repairs after 50K offroad miles.

So ask yourself, do you really “need” pro, or even offroad version? Once I stop offroading, the truck goes and I buy a car…

 

I read an article somewhere that had similar pricing, but building one on Toyota’s website with my zip code still sits at;

Im assuming they either haven’t updated the prices or it’s going to stay around there. If you could get into a dealer here in the GST area with this pricing and have a dealer agree to it in writing you would be getting a great deal. Just waiting for it to get allocated would be the hard part.

 

I just picked up a ‘21 Pro around a month ago and loving it. I plan to do a decent amount of mods, but the pro upgrade was worth it alone for me simply based on interior/LED headlights alone (that being said, I have family connections at Toyota and was able to get my Pro at MSRP. If that weren’t the case and I had to pay the 6-10k upcharge that a lot of dealers are charging for Pros currently, I don’t know if I would’ve gone with the Pro). I love the leather they use for the seats and every time I step into the cab, it feels like a premium truck and that won’t change no matter how many exterior mods I end up doing in the long run. I already did my first significant mod, which was changing out the Fox TRD Pro suspension with King 2.5s along with Total Chaos UCA and based on only a few days of driving, it’s definitely an upgrade, even though the Fox suspension was buttery smooth on road and simply a pleasure to drive.

So I guess you just gotta decide what really matters to you. If you could care less about the premium TRD Pro interior options and just want a base model truck to mod out to your hearts content, then I guess you have your answer. If you want that TRD Pro suspension, I got a pair with about 400miles sitting in my garage right now…

 

9)Looks----Pro looks better in the driveway.
10)Value----Pro retains it's value more than any other trim.

 

To the OP’s original question is do you want the premium package with leather, premium audio, moon roof, heated seats and all that other stuff?

If you don’t, then get the OR.

If you do want that and don’t plan on getting anything extra still do the OR.

If you want a better skid plate, fog lights, wheels, suspension, exhaust, and grille then do the Pro. Ive done the calculations before and posted on another thread and by the time you add everything your like $200 under the Pro Price and not worth it in my opinion. Unless your wanting the LWB.

That of course is in these times. It’s hard enough for dealers to even get a truck allocated to them so the pricing and negotiation is different. Some say there are deals to be had but if dealers can constantly add a premium for market adjustment then they aren’t in any hurry to negotiate. Either way depending on where your at you may be paying MSRP or above that.

Best thing would be make up your mind on what suits your needs and find a dealer that will sell at MSRP if you can’t get a deal. It will be hard to get anything off MSRP and especially for a Pro but there are dealers that will sell at MSRP. Even if you have to travel and get one, if it saves money then I would go that route.

Added a build spec using a California zip code. They allow all those accessories. Just a reference and it could be a little lower because those are all at MSRP for accessories but I don’t see thousands in savings going any other route. A decent lift will cost more especially with install if your not doing it yourself.

Dont want to have too much hope as every dealer i have seen around me and outside of state all have insane mark up.
But trust me they are going to get flame if they pull that on me lol.

 

Yeah sounds like you may have the prices minus the delivery charges.

 

I put a deposit down on my 21 Pro in April and it didn’t get allocated until end of June and had to wait until Aug to get it. They kept the price that we agreed on at MSRP. I had a signed agreement from them with my deposit on there. So hopefully you can get the same and good luck.

also the key to the suspension is not the lift. But the fact that the shocks ride significantly better and have far greater technology than the non Foxs

Instead, hundreds of experts chimed in with personal opinions about how to drive the truck, use the truck, what to pay for the truck and if he should mod said truck.

 

Agreed. I have an OR DCLB. I use it as a truck for hauling. I also have a beach vehicle permit for fishing, hence the reason for the OR model.

 

If you want headroom at all, go for the standard OR. The inseparable leather upholstery/sunroof combo of the premium package is a real drawback if you're over 5'6".
