So that I understand correctly... Although I've owned 5 Tacomas over the years and only two have been 4x4, an 02 and a 16 Limited, this one is a 4x2.

I bought this one new as seen in the pic minus some accessories I've added. It's a 21 TRD Off Road 4x2 but it probably looks more like a 4x4 because of the beefier tires.

So, to understand the terminology correctly, can a TRD Off Road also be a 4x4?

    Thanks,

Almost every trd off-road is 4x4. You have rare 4x2 model

If you are referring to me, not at all. I wasn't aware the "Off Road" labeled version could also be 4x4 so just wanting to learn the terminology. I thought the 4x4s were TRD 4x4, referring to the stickers on the bed. Looking at mine you'd think it was a 4x4 with the tires, shocks and such but it's a 4x2. I would have purchased a 4x4 if they had one but those are scarce down in middle Ga.

Do they still make a PreRunner. I remember when I bought my 04 ORDC they had an OR PreRunner on the lot. Looked just like mine but 4x2. Had a rear locker.

I had a 2012 PreRunner that also had the TRD package. My 21 almost mirrors my 12 but this one has slightly more aggressive tires. This one on the window sticker was labeled as a 21 Tacoma SR5 TRD Off Road.

They no longer call it a "PreRunner"

I believe that all the trim levels are available in 4wd or 2wd. e.g. Sport, Limited, OffRoad etc.... Except for the PRO.
Sport use to come with a "Limited Slip" rear end. The OffRoad comes with a electronic locker. Manual trans. Doesn't come with Crawl Control. They make just too many variations of the Tacoma. LMAO!!

Forgot I added these small items yesterday:
    20211007_085415.jpg 20211007_090219.jpg

I had bought some similar ones off Ebay about 2 years ago (and they had held up), but I had noticed some fading on a couple of letters. So easy fix from @TUFSKINZ.

Also got this bed net off Amazon. Only real difference between this one and the OEM is this one has pockets(which will help with grocery store runs).

There were a handful of negative reviews on this net, but guess we'll see how long it will hold up.

I got ya, it's the exact opposite for us out here in CO. Every TRD model is a 4x4 around here, in fact pretty much every Tacoma is. Yours confused me since I assumed the TRD in your info meant 4x4, and the sunglasses holder told me it's not an automatic (where the MTS system would be) but you didn't have the A-TRAC next to your diff lock like mine. A perfect storm of "what's happening here?"

    Enjoy your weekend!

After posting this I decided to take my own advice so I ordered up some Bosch Icons and went out to replace my wipers and realized I already had them. It’s not the first time I’ve forgotten something I’ve already bought. Maybe I should be looking at some ginkgo or Prevagen for my memory problem.
