Looks like 6+ members have had issues with this suspension making a clunking noise with no word from the Manufacturer :boink:

Interesting that a mod was gushing about these right around the same time admins were telling me I can't sell a competing suspension on TW. I'm sure there was no financial incentives or conflicts of interest. Weird thing is 2 years later I don't have any clunks.

I'm sorry, who are you? lol

I don't think anyone contacted Elka yet, and Krave and Elka aren't on TW for some reason.

I emailed them. Might as well call also so they actually get back to us.

Calling Elka in the past has been a positive experience for me. I have had this clunk since the suspension was installed, and it's still doing it even after 3 wheeling trips. I figure I now have enough experience with the truck to give Elka any information they may need to help us get to the bottom of this. I don't live in Quebec so they won't be able to hear the noise for themselves, but I definitely can describe when and how it happens very well.

Lol, "Just oil flowing through the valves" That's a perfectly normal clunk, don't worry about it. Actually clunking is a sign of high quality suspension.

Weird how "just oil flowing through the valves" didn't make a clunk when they are new.. hmmm

    Blowin smoke.

There isn't. That's the cop out answer, which is why he's giving it before he even looks at the truck.

You give the customer the cop out answer when they first call. They drop the truck off. You take their truck to lunch with the boys. An hour before close you put the truck on the lift and call the customer and tell them you couldn't find anything, so it must just be "predetermined cop out answer." "If it gets worse let us know" Be sure to leave truck on the lift until customer arrives so they know how hard you were working on it. Customer gives up and doesn't call back. TA-DA! you just got out of 90% of rework/warranty work.

I have the same Elka shocks on why 19 trd Offroad I got them from head strong Offroad. I wanted kings cause lets be honest they just look cool and bad a$$. I did a lot of research and went with Elka they cost as much as the kings did but I didn't have to wait 6 months to get them. The rebuild time is longer then kings from what I've been told which was also a deciding factor. I put this kit on about 5000 miles ago with the 700 pound spring and I'm very happy with it. My one regret when I lifted my last rubicon was not getting better fox shocks and my wife set buy and get what you want. I would recommend these shocks to others they don't have the king bling but they are well made and do a great job.

Just got off the phone with Elka. From what they told me, the clunk noise is "normal and it's the way the shock works". This does not make sense to me. Elka told me to contact KRave. It feels like I'm being given the run-around...

I’m running a similar setup. I didn’t have the clunk when I first installed my suspension. Few weeks later the noise started occurring regularly and I couldn’t find the source. I checked all nuts, bolts, and fasteners. Took my truck in to a shop because my CV shaft going into my diff was leaking at the seal. That was a month ago and to this day I don’t have any clunking or weird noises.

I honestly think the noise comes from the CV axle clip slipping/shifting within the diff. By adding the lift we are lengthening the axles and putting the shaft at an increased angle going into the diff which causes the clip to move. My buddy’s 4Runner with 3” Dobinson suspension does the same thing. He can’t pinpoint the source of the noise after going over everything to make sure it’s all tight

Not saying this isn’t something to look at but wouldn’t all lifts cause this then? Several buddies are wheeling this truck with similar lifts, in terms of height, and no noise.

The CV shafts make sense, some people need the cv bearing kit from egs asap after lifting the truck I haven't yet but I'm sure at some point I will need it.

Are you referring to the ECGS clamshell bushing?

I've done the ecgs bushing. I don't think it's the cv's, but it might be. I agree with the idea that if it were the cv's, all lifted trucks would do this. Anyone running kings have this clunking?

Didn't last long, under 2 years and this, they told me to deal with Krave automotive which is further from Toronto then Quebec (where they shipped mine initially), go figure. Not happy. Probably backordered now with 128 months of wait time :bananadead: Fixed it with duct tape for the time being to move it around when need room in garage.

Is that the lower mount bushings just destroyed??? I'm wondering if that's where all the clunks everyone has is from
