I bid on one of 5 Miller Welders today. Actually 2 but the first one my bid was tied so I bid on another one. I am high bidder now at $200.00 on one but it doesn't close until noon on Tuesday.
Made in like 1993 Miller Syncrowave 351 with TIG rig, water cooler and remote.
I've never even TIG welded before but too good a opportunity to pass. I kind of hope the one I bid on gets out bid then I'll go higher on the first one. I know who ran the first one and it's best because he takes care of stuff like it was his own. (Inside scoop)

Just know those 351`s can be very Top heavy just be careful moving it around.

The one off switch can get cranky with age.

The triangle shape fits nice in corners .

Here is the operators manual for the latest version Week end reading!!

    Good luck

I never pass up an opportunity to eat most anything that I don't have to cook.

I have been told that I would eat canned dog food if you microwaved it first -- I like to believe that my standards are a little higher than that.... although I have been witnessed eating pizza than fell on the garage floor - cheese up on a fairly clean spot I feel I should add.

I forget what my grandparents were doing then, I want to say my mom's side might have had a farm..
Definitely another wise slogan @Jtcmedic though tougher nowadays..in part because it seems nothing is made to last.

Both my parents and my wife’s parent grew up during the depression…they knew how to do without. My wife and I always joked about having depression era parents and how every expenditures had to be justified…the funny thing is we have become our parents. Anytime a large expenditure is contemplated we both ask “is it nessessary?” Agree you can’t waste time but you need to balance “want vs need”. Our country spends like drunken sailors on shore leave. That scar you call out is a good scar.

Yup, the 80s ushered in that drunken sailor thinking. My sister is very much like that, has to have the newest iPhone and has to go shopping every wek..

Cell phones are the low hanging fruit, I got 5 years from my flip phone back in the 2000s and it still worked despite the hinge snapping. Now it's barely 2 years even though I take care of my stuff.

Good way to start the morning. Having to do the classic hammer and chisel method to walk this sucker out. None of my easy outs fit due to the proximity to the barrel. It's coming... slowly.CB5A69AC-5823-4C99-B7C0-D418E6894459.jpg

Edit: before anyone thinks I can't drill a straight hole, it came to me with the hole already drilled off center. I'm just the poor guy that has to finish the butcher job.

Success! What a stubborn POS that was. As an added bonus, the new (used) trunnion rod threaded in perfectly! 452B6D04-DA1E-4BAE-BC80-982F3E05DD90.jpgF059FE29-7A1B-46F7-A793-48C5D2A02ED5.jpgF1681782-CAD7-490A-9F95-C4A8FCE486A4.jpg

The reason for this whole cluster f@$! is this was the replacement cylinder for one of our machines. The one on the machine started leaking air and we couldn't figure out why. Well I found the problem! Somehow the barrel of the cylinder cracked all the way through. 87B0B969-0964-4C65-BF7D-CF17E66A2A18.jpg

Well, you are right at it bright and early on a Saturday morning! :muscleflexing:

Looks like the cylinder is scored up pretty good along with the crack. Done in by contamination perhaps or damage on the outside in that area? Never know, someone in the past might have put the cylinder in a vice and made it egg shaped too.

I've been at it for two hours already  the cause has been determined. At some point the mounting pin came out and the cylinder beat back and forth against a metal mount right on the barrel. Damaged the outside pretty well. Supposedly these cylinders are close to ten years old, so I'd say the scoring is minor given that. image.jpg

Last fix for me today. Just replaced a gearbox and motor that committed suicide Friday afternoon. Blown seals and bearings in the gearbox, washed keyway on the motor. E944FF2D-2A53-4163-A4A2-50E68DC8F606.jpg1922C354-DA6F-47BC-A61D-F07F41B3B396.jpg36487C24-7C32-46E0-A0B6-6589F30D97DF.jpg
