Finally got my Dasaita 10 installed Saturday. Was pretty amazed at how well it turned out. I still need to mount the back up camera and route the wires for that and a new XM antenna. I do have a question, do I need a dongle to run CarPlay? And is it worth it? I can Bluetooth most everything I need and add Waze and any other app's directly to the head unit.

I have the ability to plug my phone in and do that, but never do. I just use my phone as a hot-spot and use everything directly on the unit

Is the 10 a good unit to get for a 2014 OR? I’d like to use wifi CarPlay from my iPhone. Also my backup camera is 6V powered…

If you have an external XM tuner, then you could run that through the AUX input. However, to my knowledge, there is no satellite XM support. You could still get the internet flavor of XM (via android app) and tether to phone hotspot.

The wireless carplay works well. I started out using carplay but quickly migrated to using the native android apps with a car oriented launcher screen.

My XM runs thru an RF adapter using the trucks antenna system and worked great right out of the gate, I plan to put the XM antenna under an after market shark fin cover. Did you have to use an add on dongle for the wireless carplay?

I forgot the RF version. I think I had a unit called the 3101 in my first install. Although if it has RCA outs (or 3.5 to RCA) then you mind find it gives improved audio quality coming in through the AUX.

If I recall correctly, there was an app installed that walked through the wireless CarPlay setup. I want to say it was AVIN but fear my memory is clouded. I can check when I get back this afternoon. I do believe the (very minimal) user guide listed the app as well. There are some settings in the CAR options that also enable CarPlay bluetooth support. I’ll try to get my memory prompted and get back to you.

I don't have wireless CarPlay any more, but I'll try to show you where you can look for it.

Go to the android settings screen and select the Factory Settings option (code 126). It looks lie the following:
    upload_2021-9-27_18-22-2.jpg
Unfortunately I can't screen capture once you go into this selection. However you will want to look at the "other" tab and inside it is the option to turn CarPlay on or off. If my recollection is correct, once you have it turned on then your iPhone should find it automatically when you turn on CarPlay in the phone. This is for the wireless version.

Before wireless was enabled, there was an EasyConnection app that would walk you through the connection in wired mode. I think it may have been updated for wireless but I have not used it as such. Looks something like:
    Screenshot_20210927-180549.jpg
Sorry I don't have a clean set of instructions for you. I moved on from CarPlay once I really got the hang of android. Good luck.

Thanks for all your help. I have another question for the group. Does anyone know if there is a black or red hazard pushbutton I can get to replace the grey one I have?

I had to source one from eBay. I ended up buying a hazard/clock cluster from a totaled 2.5 Tacoma $60 lol. But super worth it IMO.

    20210813_135353.jpg

Side note, you could always paint it black but the hazard symbol won't eliminate anymore.

Finally pulled the trigger and am reviewing the thread to prepare for the install.

But now I'm concerned... where's the SD card slot on this thing? Please tell me there's actually an SD card slot...

Sweet... where is it? Do you have to remove the screen or something? I saw that was how it worked on the Joying one I was considering before, but I can't find any images of the Dasaita SD card slot.

    Thanks!

I'll take a picture for you tomorrow. If I remember right, it's underneath the din.

Install is plug and play once you get the radio out. A few bolts and good to go. If you have the right harness 30-60 mins.

if you have a backup camera there is a specific one just ask them. Also it’s in this thread.

they should send it with the HU.

I ordered mine off Ali express
