I recently spun out and hit the drivers side rear pretty bad. axle is bent and i need to get a new one, but i dont know where exactly to start. Would i be able to do a swap with a 3rd gen 4runner? Or what would i be able to do?

    4 run, 2 don't
    No.

4Runner uses coils, panhard bar, and a different shock mount setup.

Bump stops are also located differently.

Do you need a complete axle assembly? Just the brake/bearing/shaft sub-assembly? Is the axle housing damaged? You might save some money on parts by buying only the specific parts that are damaged, but the install will be simpler (and possibly cheaper, if you're paying a shop to do it) if you get a complete axle assembly. If you're not sure, it's probably best to replace the entire axle assembly.

Do you know what final drive ratio your truck came with? Since it's a Prerunner (not 4x4), you don't need to worry about matching the front diff, but the truck will drive differently (maybe better, maybe worse, it depends on how you use the truck) if you change the gear ratio. See this thread for help determining your original gear ratio: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-gear-ratio-chart.365138/

Did the truck come with an e-Locker? Locking and non-locking axle housings are different.

Where are you located? Shipping an axle is an expensive pain, so best to look for one local.

It is good to tell us where you are!

Freight on a axle for 3000 miles might be just a little expensive.

If OP needed to ask about a 4Runner axle housing They don`t have the skills yet like you will soon to say sure you can use a 4Runner axle Housing it just takes a little work.

Interesting How the meaning of a little work changes person to person so much.

Sorry, you guys are right i didn't provide enough information(i didn't get most of it until this morning when i visited the shop its at) or state that im in. I live in SoCal. So i need to get a new drivers side axle shaft, a new axle housing and im going to look into getting new leaf springs. im hoping the diff is still able to be used. The axle housing itself is toed in from where i hit the curb(it's about an inch difference compared to the other side). Im going the pretty expensive route and getting an O.E. housing from the dealer, mainly because my family is going to help me out with getting some stuff. i made sure to get the same housing i already have on.

Thank you guys so much for the offers and being helpful, again sorry for not including the info

Aftermarket locker is better anyway. And the 8.4 is a stonger diff than the 8" TV6
