As stated above, the picture was taken in 2015; Other pictures from
the article show a 1980s Jeep Comanche and a 1992-1997 Ford F-series ambulance still in use, which tells me that the locals squeeze as much life as they can out of their vehicles (combined with the fact that vehicles likely don't rack up a particularly large amount of miles per decade due to Utqiaqvik being relatively small and so isolated)...

As such, I am 99% sure that this Barcelona Red RC 4x4 is a 2005-2008 model...

The guy spotted a rather rough-looking 2nd Gen Tundra on the same trip and took a picture of it as well; Looks pretty badass parked next to the SnowCat or whatever the hell that thing is!

Actually, it doesn't look all that rough, but it's definitely got a decent-sized dent in the right rear fender...

Might be referring to both 2nd and 3rd Gen frames, who knows, but gives you a decent idea of the cost. I’m guessing $5k for the frame, $5k in labor, and some unknown additional amount in the range of at least one or two thousand for the remaining parts/materials. Maybe.

On another note, my truck's Carfax shows one owner, but my dad was the original owner and he just gave me the truck; The sticker price on my truck was over $17K but less than $18K, and he traded a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder that he got $2,300 for. He also managed to negotiate the price down a little bit, and I believe the final price was just under $15K; So yeah, the cost to Toyota of replacing my frame exceeds the original price of my Tacoma even when it was brand spanking new with 20 miles on the clock!

And I'm probably dropping close to a grand in additional parts that I'm choosing to replace, specifically the shock absorbers and water pump...

My theory as to why my truck still shows one owner, even though the guy at the notary was pretty sure it would show two owners, is because even though the title was changed to my name we opted to keep the original license plate that the truck had been issued when we bought it in 2009; It would have cost quite a bit more on top of the title transfer fee to get a new plate, and my dad figured since the truck was staying in the family, keeping the original plate did not matter...

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Also don`t forget to include the cost of the rental vehicle !

Depending how long you were waiting on the frame.

    Around12 to 15 thousand

Due to the rental car shortage and the fact that my perforation is small, I get to keep the truck to drive until the frame comes in, which is expected to be after Thanksgiving of this year; Estimated time to replace the frame is three days, which is only a day more than it took them to replace my evaporator core back in 2018...

Gas was apparently $7 per gallon in Utqiagvik in 2015 and I'm guessing it's more expensive now; Whoever owned this red Hummer H2 must have had money to burn!
