Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

Just installed this evening. Liking em so far. Can definitely tell a difference on pot holes and pulling into the driveway.

 

Prepping for the ps pump kit install this weekend and this “kit” is clearly not designed for my engine cage. Gosh I don’t think it will work. Oh well, chopping things up tomorrow to make it work. Hopefully done by end of the weekend

I thought the hard part was supposed to be installing the new pump with spacers. Not the part where the tab on the timing cover breaks off.

How did that happen?

 

Power steering upgrade just turned into a new timing cover. That’s a tough one.

 

Loosen oil line from pump to rack, pull first mounting bolt out of pump, attempt to loosen second bolt and snap the tab off. Real easy, didn’t even have my long breaker bar on or anything. I don’t recommend trying it yourself though.

 

Yeah that would be the proper fix since I don’t have means to weld aluminum and this seems to be a bit more important than a good ole jb weld job

I found a guy who did this to fix his that broke off. Was my plan if I had to.

 

Problem solved/ solution decided at least. After talking to a few other guys with caged tacomas that have had similar situations. These pumps are tabbed for 3 mounting points but only utilize 2. So I’ll bolt it back up in the known 1 good one and jb weld the snapped tab back on the timing cover. Then build a new mount off the block somewhere that supports that 3rd currently unused mounting location. Easy peasy…. I hope. Did already get the mounts sorted out for the reservoir and cooler so once the pump is mounted it should be quick to sort out the lines. BBQ duties means I probably won’t finish tomorrow but should sort things out this week

 

I had mine break off as well, but under different circumstances. Tigged it back on and it’s been fine since. But yeah, I also plan to utilize the 3rd at some point when I have free time.

 

Yeah I’d I had access to a tig I’d be done by now lol. But it don’t, so I’ll just jb weld that one back on and then build a new tab for the 3rd hole to make it solid.
