Sorry for the delayed response.... But all I can say is it's coming. Again no ETA, but headway is being made now and I'm excited.

Not sure how it's going to work yet. In-person custom tuning and logging will be available through my company (www.coloradotoyotatuning.com) so we can dial everything exactly how you like it (not just AFR but throttle response, gearing, transmission tuning all things that should have been doable for Magnuson from the get go etc.). Still working out the logistics of other scenarios where people aren't able to drive to me, but there are options just need to iron out details with people.

I do hope we're able to purchase the upgraded fuel pump kit soon. Stock fueling I'm sure is going to be an issue but have to take care of one thing at a time.

I finally checked my AT fluid a few weeks back (dealer told me they had done a drain and flush at my 35k service) and it was almost a full quart low and looked disgusting. Not completely burnt up per say but nasty. Good thing I never go to dealers anymore. I did a drain and flush like you had recommended and added some lubeguard in (as recommended by @gearcruncher who knows his stuff), and it's definitely driving way better and smoother all around. Still hunting at higher speeds but not as bad. I monitored my trans temps at highway speeds right before the change and was ranging 195-220. After the change and fill to correct specs it sits 195-200ish max.

I am too nervous to try the cruise up a steep grade above 70 mph again though after throwing a CEL 3 times. I'm going to measure driveshaft angles etc later today (I have Deaver Stage 3's on it, and a GFC) which might have been why I had some slippage then. Need to get this all dialed before I hit a dyno etc.

The shifting logic is my biggest bitch about the Maggy tune - but as you note it is likely they missed much more. Considering their Vendor for the Tuning SW made it clear in a post that all users would have to attend or have SW training to ensure they are fully capable of using the SW I'd say there is plenty of blame and finger pointing to go around between the two. As you state the fueling system is suspect and possibly a reason Maggy has failed to fully refine their Tune. All aside - Thanks for the update and your efforts. FWIW I'd be happy with nothing more than the shifting logic corrected - maybe a phased process to your goals of the Golden Egg.

YotaWerx has been testing their supercharger tune and working on it, so you'll be in no shortage of options at the least. Eventually similar I expect to the various options for the N/A side of things

We are all patiently waiting for this! Hopefully the Yotawerks tune retains the throttle response and torque below 3500 rpm as seen on the OV Tune 2.0. @tonered hooked me up with the 2.0 and it’s an incredible upgrade over stock for this reason alone.

We are well aware of how patiently people are waiting and we really appreciate it.

I am also one of the people who purchased one of the first 25 OVTune Twin Turbo kits and learned a lot from having that kit, and observing the consequences of the limitations of the stock fuel system. Obviously this does not mean that the stock fuel system is incompatible with FI, but I do consider myself to be in a unique position where I have experienced various positive and negative circumstances with forced induction on this engine firsthand, having daily driven those twin turbos for many many months, and will be able to keep those experiences and knowledge in mind when developing and testing.

Do you have the Magnuson SC now? Yeah the TT is definitely vastly different than the tvs1900. I can’t imagine trying to dial and develop a tune on a truck that you don’t have 24/7, must be difficult.

A supercharger check-in....I'm on my 3rd tank of gas and it has gotten more powerful over time. Not sure if the computer "learned"
for more power or it is an air temp drop due to winter coming. Last week I did a standing start and burned the rear tires and caught a second gear chirp!

I have not noticed the "issues" other folks have regarding the tune. I like the tune other than the "kick" I sometimes get at low speed (not sure that is the tune). It maybe because I removed the restrictor.

Very happy with the supercharger. My only complaint is that I didn't install it sooner! :D

The kick you feel is probably the restrictor. I took it out and after towing our trailer it went right back in as the kick was serious with a bunch of weight pushing you.

I never drove it with the restrictor. I might put it back in to see the difference. I also towed our travel trailer on two trips. The supercharger made a nice improvement on the hills.

Did you notice a low end performance reduction with the restrictor installed?

My only complaint is an aggressive "thud" when slowing down and i have to give it a little gas. Very abrupt. Shifting is pretty good but has its moments.

it has a slightly longer transition from engine braking to boost engaged. With the trailer hooked up and the engine under vacuum it was a really harsh transition when opening the throttle plate. Restrictor in is much less abrupt. Overall power seemed the same.

what will a supercharger like this do to overall reliability of the engine and will the rest of the running gear hold up?

The real question are Magnuson owners driving their trucks harder than the people without them? Ultimately that will determine life span.

2nd Gen supercharged folks might be a bellwether for reliability with the 2GR.

I had the same thing. I got with Ryan at magnuson and he provided a different tune to try out. I haven’t felt it yet but I haven’t driven it much so might be to soon to say.

Unsure to the answers. Flushing the AT fluid with the proper levels and lube guard helped around town but I’m hesitant to take it above 75. Only would happen when in cruise and going up hill over 76 mph which is strange. I did also replace my AAL pack with deaver stage 3’s and a GFC which could have contributed to drive shaft angles being off or something, or potentially it was fueling (I’m in CO too). Lots of variables and I’ll report back when I get a chance to check my drive shaft angles and correct them if needed.

Thanks for sharing! Good luck getting it sorted! Interested to hear the outcome on this. Still waiting, but planning on doing a lot of towing with mine.

How long have you have the tune? Did you reset your dtc’s and learning values? To be fair the stock tune does this as well with a ton of trucks but tuning made it better for the most part. After I reset my values it drove like absolute garbage for about 25 miles (similar to the NA tune regardless how good it is).

Ohhh Ryan. I asked him for some VERY basic changes (one alternator table change), which he said he could accommodate. Never happened. Sure enough a shop here that I trust and has my business cards calls me (RSG, great guys), saying they have someone with a third gen that can’t get over 80mph with 5.29’s and weight. They ask if I might know why…. Yes, tell them you need a 5.29 specific tune with global speed raised to 350 km/hr. Guess Magnuson’s response? No. I want to develop an awesome tune not only for my own trucks benefit but for all the people that paid out the ass for this SC that aren’t getting the performance they want.

They (rsg, an authorized magnuson installer) V8 swapped a 4runner and it’s MEAN but got 0 help from magnuson. Idk if it’s cause they live in California that they are so damn not helpful on tunes but if that’s the case they need to leave. They have told people over and over it’s good enough to not effect sales, that’s complete BS. So many people have held off cause they know tuners don’t have access and their tune is garbage. Thankfully Matt is helping on this front now.
