Some are and some are not. I remember the Pinto and Vega, not to mention the Yugo.:):) Then again, I am old.

    Nope.
Doesn't interfere at all with driving.
I was a little worried that I'd kick it when getting in and out, but so far hasn't been a problem at all (and I have actually driven more today than any day so far).

I knew a middle aged cat lady that had a Yugo. She called it her Nogo.

Hey, I drove a Pinto for 13 years. NEVER got pulled over by a cop. I changed every other part on it in that time but the engine was solid. So solid some VW Bug racers found the transmission of a bug bolted directly to a Pinto Engine. They got a 73 Pinto engine, changed the cam and spruced up the heads a bit. They left the bottom stock and raced that engine all season long. Come off the line at 10K and shift at 10K. They won a lot. After the races, they took the heads off to check the wear. There was NONE. They cut a piece off the block and sent it in for analysis. The block was made in Germany and had a very, very high nickel content. ie, no wear. I did however have to drive with one eye looking forward while the other watched the mirror. Imagine my horror one day when I "heard" a 70's land yacht sliding towards my rear end on dry pavement. I moved into the intersection to get out of his way and thankfully he stopped in time.

Second spare (Goodyear MTR with decent tread I saved off the old Gen1) mounted up on a spare black stealie rim, and tried it out on the Yakima spare tire carrier I mounted up on the roof rack. Works out great. Not as difficult as I had imagined to lift it up onto the rack and then back down.

Then took tire back off the rack and stowed it in the garage. Will only be up there for those "way out there" trips in the AZ sticks. Been there and done that with a single spare and having blown 3 tires on one trip. Not fun to waste time heading back and forth into town to replace spare tires. Thankfully I had not blown 2 tires on the same day. I'd of been stuck with a long walk out. Second spare a little insurance that won't need to happen. Over 50 miles out one way to pavement with no spare is not my idea of a relaxing drive.

This now gives me two full size (265-75R 16's) MTR's as spares, which is nice. They're pretty bullet proof on the rocks.

How? How are people getting King's? I placed an order for Kings shocks and was quoted 45 weeks for delivery. I cancelled and went with another brand. Seriously, how though? Are people waiting a year for this stuff to arrive?

Got my diffs, trans and transfer case changed out for the 30k service. Rotation and also got a 285/75/16 tire for the spare. Banged down the tabs and fit up nicely. When i get back to Florida i will install my new shorty muffler so the tail pipe isnt in the way.

Front dif had some water in it and ive never went in an large puddles or off road, so thats odd. All worked out well regardless. happy i was abe to get it done. Going to try and get an alignment this week.

The guy that lived across the street from me when I was a kid was sitting at a red light. When it turned green he took off in his Yellow Pinto and transmission fell completely out of the car in the middle of the intersection. I still laugh my ass off about that today.

In all fairness, he had just put a new motor in it. Obviously things had not been bolted up properly.

    Very nice!

On a side note, how do you like your Fox DSC's? Do you use both of the adjusters pretty often? One more than the other?
I've been looking at these for my upcoming around the country on/off road excursion. Quick adjustments from highway to offroad would be ideal.

Have you tried DownSouth Motorsports in San Diego? Back when I got mine, King said they'd be a month out. DownSouth had them at my door 3 days later with the requested 700lb coils installed. That was a few years ago, but they seem to carry a good stock of items.
