I think that one is part of the timing cover. I know rockauto.com was selling them at one point.

 

No provisions for welding aluminum. But not worried about it anymore. Seen a few options for building a bracket to support it. Little more work but should be good

 

Share what you come up with.

 

Will do. Just got the new pump in and bolted in the correct position so now I need to figure out the new bracket

I noticed the 1GRFE 4.0L V6 Gen2 coil packs are now available to be "Added to Cart" on your site. Does this mean its now available for purchase? Is there any additional discount for the guys that purchased/returned the Gen1 packs?

False alarm....RIPP replied back to me stating this was an error and the Gen2 coil packs arent expected till the end of the year.

Too tight in there to get a pic but ended up with a simple L bracket between the motor mount and un used hole on the pump. Should do the trick but I suppose time will tell

 

Yeah I emailed them about a month ago and was told the same thing. This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve been told a specific time frame that doesn’t pan out so I’m not holding my breath on the end of the year. Hope so I really do but not optimistic.

 

Haven't really looked into coils much, but are the RIPP coils that much better than the SOS coils? Why the long hold out for RIPP?

J/k.. im debating SOS vs RIPP too. But without details of the coil output, its just comparing marketing material. And if we are just comparing marketing fluff, then the RIPP units are advertised to be more robust than stock and SOS.

**i cant find it now, but SOS claimed like 20-30% more energy over stock. And RIPP claimed like 25-35% over stock. LOL

I'm also seeing a few vendors sell private labeled coil packs hailing the same benefits, etc... my gut tells me that most these coil packs are originating from the same source/factories.

 

Yah I think no one has much experience at least in this group but I was wondering that about the SOS. I guess someone just need to compare both and see. Who knows maybe SOS is the King as we're missing out.

 

Sooooo basically need to do the GTR coil pack swap, with harness adapters.....

@05Taco4x4 did it to his 2TR. However, the ignition dwell times may or may not need adjustment. Not sure. We both have Haltech's, so the option to enter that data in for proper operation is there. Not sure if he had to change that data or not?

 

I don't think HPTuners has the option to modify ignition dwell times. If they do then it's a parameter which has not been named yet.

 

why not a complete drivetrain package?

 

Wouldn't hurt. Be pretty freaking awesome.

 

Because I prefer to keep my transmission above the ground in one piece rather than pieces.
