I don't think it will work. It will not go in the bearing and it will not stay there I don't think even if it did. Can't say I've ever tried it though but I don't think it will work. That lube does not work well over the time the motor will run. Think of a key lock, a few seconds at most not hours.

Tightened the three bolts on the bottom of the black housing and it has stopped for now. We will see how long it lasts.

I have had my 2010 for 6 months now, and the motor replaced twice. Definitely doing this next time. My local dealership is under par in my opinion.

Trap is correct, there is a felt "washer" at either end of the motor housing. If you disassemble the motor, it's easy to lube the washers. I did mine tonight and hopefully that will take care of it for awhile.

outnot bad for never even taking one apart, but that is usually how they work. The felt dries out then the motor starts acting up. If you let it go too long it will be chances are, to late. The bushing will have worn by then.

There should be nothing to dry out or lubricate. This should not be a maintenance item on a vehicle made at this period of vehicle evolution. This is a sourcing / design problem and Toyota needs to resolve it.

The oil will not sit there forever. It gets consumed slowly over time. If it simply lasted forever that would indicate a lack of lubrication was taking place. All these small fractional Hp motors are they same if they have the felts installed. The recommended relube interval is one year. Even if it had sealed bearing this process would take place but at a slower rate. The only way to fix it is magnetic bearings.

I'm not defending it's design just trying to convince you maybe to add this vital maintenance item to the yearly tasks.

Understand, and I am in no way arguing with you, only stating that this should not be needed in a modern vehicle. And at no time have I ever had the dealer ask me if I wanted to have my wiper blades replaced and my bower fan lubricated. No where have I seen any blower fan maintenance listed in any scheduled maintenance documents.

So there is a fault. Fine. But Toyota's TSB use of the same motor with fast failure rates and continued use of the same system in new trucks is inexcusable.

I'm either stupid or really stupid. I took my blower apart as I've already had it replaced once and I'm far out of my warranty now. Used some white lithium grease but I must not have been careful enough with it because now that I have it installed and back together my heater won't come on at all. I checked to make sure the wire was plugged all the way in and triple checked everything else. I keep blowing the 50amp FMX fuse under the hood. Any thoughts on why this is happening all of a sudden? Could grease have gotten on the wrong parts and caused this? Thinking back, grease may have gotten on the brass spooling on the motor and even down the spindle. Thoughts?

I had an appointment this morning to get my blower motor "fixed".. I showed up, and they had another motor, but said they didn't have to "packing" which is supposed to be the solution. I have heard that the packing that they speak of is to silence the noise, but it doesn't seem to me as a fix for the problem, just covering it up!! Has anyone else heard of this? I think I'm gonna tackle it myself, since the dealer is dumber than bricks!!!!

Installed my Amazon replacement today and the chirp is gone. Unfortunately, it is now a flutter at low speed that gets faster at medium and sounds like a mutha at high. I am at a point where I will gladly pay a $100 for the Autozone one. I'm going to try and return the Amazon one for a new one first.

Love the truck, but I can't stand this issue...

Ugh.... ok guys, here you go.

    Here's the fan:

I really wanted to take a look underneath the cap to see what I could see..... that's where I got a small let down:

A nice TYC sticker and part number

So basically Autozone is selling the TYC part at 2x the cost but they are slapping their lifetime warranty on it. I suppose this doesn't make me too mad. My previous TYC fan did last for an entire year before making any unusual noises, and I'll never have to pay for a new one again.

    Other pics:

Trying to peer into the motor housing:

I installed it and it was quieter then my previous TYC fan. It was also better balanced as my previous one had a slight rumble to it.

Overall, I'm disappointed, but not upset. I like that I'll never have to spend money on it again thanks to Autozone's lifetime warranty. I dislike that I'll probably have to replace it every year or so, but maybe this thing will surprise me. My overall impressions of TYC vs Delphi are that the Delphi part is quieter, but either starts to tick or squeal pretty rapidly in the cold. The TYC part is a tad noiser however I never got any ticks or squeals out of it. My previous one I took out after a year because it started to simply get louder while on, but it never squealed or ticked.
