Plenty of pics on TW showing longbeds going offroad. My pics justify owning a longbed offroad even if it doesn't always go offroad.

I’m more in the camp of, if you bought a long bed, you should have just bought a full size truck. Defeats the purpose of what a Tacoma should really be.

Which fullsize has the reliability and retains the resale of a Tacoma?

When Tacomas first generations came out they had the longer beds, single and access cabs only. When they came out with the four door cabs they shortened the beds. 2nd generations had 3 configs with long beds and the DCSB was the oddball.

Short bed trucks are NOT what Tacomas were meant to be but the aberration became acceptable to some. They still keep the longbed config for the rest of us sane people.

I kind of agree with that it would make the truck too long for me. If a longer bed was a must for me Id have to compromise with the access cab since it has the long bed but is about as long overall as a double cab short bed.

But a 6 foot bed is a real man's truck! Anything less goes from peak load hauling performance to absolutely useless. That's why the 4x4 DCLB is the ultimate choice for a workhorse truck. Tremble in awe at the sub 1000 lb payload.

ACLB or DCSB. In my opinion, if you need a truck for real work the Tacoma is not a good choice. Didn't say it won't do hard work. Just a half ton is going to do a way better job for not much more money.

Haha. I know we all bought our trucks for different reasons. Regarding Tacomas as work trucks, obviously depends on what each individual considers “work”, but I agree for most “work” the Tacoma wouldn’t be my first choice. That’s why I have a 93’ f150 4x4 for “real man work”. Lol

I didn't notice the line in the DCLB manual that said no off-road. Did I void my warranty?

I don’t think that’s the kind of off road they where talking about. Nice picture though.

For sure. There are definitely reasons to buy a DCLB over a half ton or short bed Tacoma. Personally it doesn't make sense for my uses.

I just think it's hilarious when long bed owners try to shit on the short bed.

I imagine it will be a debate until the end of time. And I won’t be a hypocrite, I shit on the DCLB all the time. Just don’t like em one bit. :notsure:
But in the end, to each his own.

I've had 5 Toyota trucks in the last 35 years, three single cabs, two double cabs and only one has had a short bed. Almost every single day I had that short bed I wished I had more space. I have never thought I had too much space on the trucks with the larger bed.

I'll never have a DC with a short bed ever again, it's one of the reasons I'll never consider the PRO unless they added an AC or DCLB to the package. For me the bed is just too short regardless of the weight of the load.

Thats because they look like shoes.

The long bed looks more balanced on both an AC and the DC

at least you’re actually “off a road” and on dirt. Not paved and plowed snow roads with road salts

People offroad full size trucks all the time. I don't think the extra foot is a limiting factor at all. Look at the Jeep Gladiator. That thing is pretty freaking long.

For real. The new crossover-based Ford Maverick kicks our ass at payload. Over 1500 pounds max.

I really need to upgrade my rear leafs asap so I don't sag with my offroading gear and tools in the back.
