    All,

I am still trying to decide between buying a 2011 Tacoma vs. a 2011 Tundra.

    Questions:

    1) Is the 4.0V6 in the Tacoma the same engine as the 4.0V6 in the Tundra? The reason I ask - I looked in the maintenance guide for both the Tacoma and the Tundra. In the Tacoma, it specifies spark plugs have to be replaced every 30K miles. In the Tundra, the V6 plugs aren't replaced until 120K!

    2) Does the 4.0 V6 in the Tacoma use a timing belt, or a chain?

    Thanks for any help!

    jandrews -

OK, if it's the same engine, why the different spark plug replacement intervals?

Also - You answered "Yes" to timing belt or chain. Does that mean it uses both?

    You must be new here.

I have no idea why the plug replacement interval is different. It may have something to do with the current model year Tundra using the dual-VVTi version of the 1GR-FE as opposed to the single-VVTi version used in our trucks.

    Regarding your second question, no.
