I had a clunk in the rear after installing my aal many moons ago…turned out to be the u bolts. I loosened them with the truck on the ground, jumped in the bed and bounced around, retorqued and good to go for years now. Might try that?

Went camping over the weekend again. This makes 44 nights total this year. Trying to make it to 50 so I'm glad the weather has been so nice. We explored a lot of forest roads and got rained on almost all weekend but it was still a great time. This wasn't last weekend but the week before we found some bioluminescent mushrooms, I've never seen anything glowing like that so I was stoked!

More tiny mods....swapped in LED sequential blinkers into my 2012 sport side mirrors. Went with the silver ones since mirror covers are white and they blend better than the black ones...on my truck. Plus the silver were $8 cheaper for the pr......

So many I forgot and had to make a list, but lost the list
Just reopened my account, been away for a while.

Since I last I posted, I have had a near disaster. Before heading out to Chicago I stopped by the neighborhood tire shop to rotate the tires. They had a new guy do the rotation and I watched and made sure he torqued the nuts. Four hours in the trip I start hearing a click when turning slightly. Then a slight vibration, like the discs are warped and need truing. It is lunch time and I have been watching for a place to stop. Luck provided a Toyota dealer next to a burger shop. I pulled into the dealer, stopped and checked the front wheels. Laying on the driver's side rim is a lug nut with a stud in it. I have three lug nuts holding on the wheel on the driver's side and four on the passengers front side. Dealer's tech stated the nut were tightened to about 140 ft lbs.

I immediately called the tire shop. Seems the new guy set the impact wrench to avoid using the torque wrench. The Toyota dealer took the truck in and replaced all the lug bolts and nuts while I had lunch. It was Monday and the shop was almost empty so they got right on it.

    But the shimmy persisted.

On the return trip I visited the Toyota dealer again. I was afraid the discs were warped from over torqueing. Sure enough they turned them and did not charge me as they felt the brakes discs were damaged beyond repair. I did get home safely.
None of the local Toyota Dealers had the TRD brake sets. Never let a repair get wasted. Summit has a warehouse just up the street. Power Stop brakes had good review and it only took one afternoon on the drive way to fix the shimmy. Right off the repair stand the stops were sure and smooth.

Well that the latest improvement. The faulty discs were not Toyota, they were AZ brand put on by a local mechanic. Should have done it myself the first time.
