How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

The temp VIN has a 6 digit serial number (last 6 numbers/letters). I believe the first two numbers of that serial number are the week designation, but they seem to rarely actually be built on the week they were planned to be built when originally allocated. Mine was built 4 weeks late.

 

I had the temp vin, disappeared on the 24th. Dealer dude sent me a sheet with the permanent vin the Monday following. I’m just going off what the dealer dude says. I asked him to put me in touch with the fleet manager, either he doesn’t know or isn’t allowed to. With delays what they are, I don’t know if the timing is accurate.

 

Thanks for the info. My dealer said "this is like the NFL draft" with dealers making swaps. Of course he told me 3 weeks, when I called back he said 30 days....I asked.....30 days from today or the original order?
"That's a good question, I'll have to ask" .......................30 days sounds to me like a number they just pull out of mid air.

When I enter my VIN I get an error.

 

Is it the temp vin? If the truck is built, the temp vin won’t track anymore.

 

I guess I have a lot to learn, not sure if it's temporary. Going by the last 6 digits it was scheduled to be built in week 34? "34B538"

I did find this earlier on page 114 LOL. No go there either.....

Yeah, permanent VIN doesn’t have a letter in the last 6. That’s a temp VIN. Good news is, since the temp doesn’t work, the truck has been built. Now the delivery date waiting game begins lol. Good luck!

 

Good info on how to tell the difference between a temp and permanent VIN, much appreciated. It's a haul from the place of origin to NC so it may take a bit.

Mine was built on the 24th as well. Dealer said today it should arrive October 15-20. We shall see.

I am trying to figure out who the freight carrier is for Guanajuato, Mexico trucks. Mine swapped to freight from in transit. Now to try and find the carrier and track by VIN. I head out of town so hoping it comes in before I leave.

 

Hey guys, my salesguy said that the ETA is supposed to be October 20-25. However, we still don’t have the VIN and the status says its in transit. Is there anyone who have experienced this? I just find it weird that it’s coming next week, but I still don’t have a VIN?

From what I understand, Toyota only builds Tacos MT every 3 months. Only 5% of Tacos made come with MT, the rest are AT. My Taco OR MT has a build date of 10/20. Any news on yours yet?

I’m getting a little impatient with the dealership I’ve been working with. Radio silence from them for more than a month. I called today and the sales guy was already driving home at 3:30. Said he didn’t think they had put my order in yet but he would check. I’m going to be bummed if I fell thru the cracks and missed my chance at the last allocation. Any advice from people out there?

 

Success!!! Someone somewhere is getting my initial vehicle, my dealer said they swapped mine out for another vehicle and it’ll be here next Wednesday!

Build: ? (Don’t know when this one was built, but mine was built 9/24)
Delivery: 10/20

 

A bit confused here. Why would they swap out the one you had a right to? Getting it sooner? Different build that is more desirable?

 

Yeah, he said this one was showing up a month earlier than the one I ordered.
