Good god. The only way I could see them coming up with a number like that is charging Covid tax on all the parts MSRP and then also charging for all the labor to have a shop install every single thing.

…used vehicle prices don’t work that way. You don’t get to recoup all your costs on a super custom vehicle.

years ago i got stopped for speeding and reckless driving. my wife wanted me to sell my bike.
i didnt want to, but agreed to post it for sale just to keep the peace.
at that time my bike was probably worth maybe $2.5k but i listed it for $5k.
my wife could not understand why we never got any calls.
she kept asking me if i listed it for sale and i would say "yes dear".

i dont think this guy really wants to sell his truck either.

As a fellow indecisive, I just can't imagine pouring that much money into a build, taking it to two not-even-remote camp sites, and then going "nah, this isn't for me. Lemme unwind this mistake."

I'm guessing once he figured out the real cost of running up at least three separate lines of finance to fund this little hobby, it soured him a bit.
