yep, that's the one. I don;t recall the clunk, but again I listen music at the max and my leafs squeak loud so I would've missed that noise. Krave did mention that it's a very common thing that fails on those shocks. Wonder if there are better designs available

You would think if it’s a common issue they would change the design or beef up the parts. A lot of us have had clunking noises over the last few months. I no longer experience them but I wonder if the sound was coming from the spherical bearing. Now I want to pop my lower bolt out to inspect for damage

I would recommend to check that and not wait till it get's worse and being in my situation. Good thing I found it on my driveway and not while being on HWY or out in the wild... But 2 years is very poor quality IMHO. I purchased them in November 2019 and not happy. Any cheap rancho or rough county china shock bushings would last longer...

I too have a "clunking" sound from my driver's side front.
I had a terrible squeaking sound coming from the front passenger side. I finally narrowed it down to the lower shock mount.
I put some teflon lubricant on the bushing and, no more squeaking....
Makes me wonder if it's related to the failure above.

    Cheers

Update: no parts availability at this time in Canada (home of the company). :bananadead:

Who deals with them in USA?

Elka makes Toytec. They might use the same lower bolt parts. Call Toytec directly. Headstrong Off-road is a US dealer as well. Keep us updated if you find parts

I messaged to Elka manufacturer directly who sold me shocks off their website and got told to deal with Krave Auto. Now Krave doesn't have parts available and Elka is checking what they can do. So essentially back to square one. Sucks when manufacturer is small and parts availability isn't guaranteed as quick compare to bigger brands, something to keep in mind.

Haven't yet, but figure I am talking to Elka directly right now everyone else would be middle man and contacting them anyways, I'd rather work with them directly for parts.

Keep us posted mate. Sorry you're having trouble with this whole thing. Makes me think I may have made a bad choice going with Elka over Bilstien or Kings.

ToyTec out of parts too, back to ELKA :frusty:

I thought about picking spare set of stock coil overs to be able to drive around when needed... should've done that before

Brought to Ski at CT this afternoon, no bueno for the parts. Need that lower piece which isn’t available, alternatively he suggested me to try to machine it to accept stock/oversized bearing in there. While this is a good alternative from my experience most machine shops nowadays is all hack and chop, and no guarantees of results. Don’t want to go that way yet.

The lower piece of the shock is damaged? How bad? Did you press out the outer piece of the bearing?

It pressed themselves out lol. Bearing cracked inside and disintegrated into million pieces only leaving sleeves and bolt there, see pictures above I posted. I need this entire piece shown here.

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
Those spherical bearings are a wear item on any performance shock. Race truck parts... I'd replace them every year if you're in a harsh climate.

Probably just a standard FK bearing you could get from anywhere. All the other manufacturers use COM10T, wouldn't surprise me if that's what Elka uses too.
