Typical news reporting… fails to mention that Roberts said both teams were dealing with the win. At the post game he was specifically asked about Lux hit, that’s why he spoke of it.

 

Everything is up for grabs in October. Win/loss, stats, all go out the window in these short series. If there’s a fluky play to be made, now is when it shows up.

 

Agreed. To be fair the Dodgers post game show did the same thing. And after the first game, rather than credit Webb for being “that good”, all the Dodgers analysts, Roberts as well could only blame their hitters for being “that bad”. As if Webb’s stuff had nothing to do with them chasing pitches that started center cut and finished in Posey’s glove. They amply proved their talent the next game against Gaussman and a pen that was much less elusive. Luck usually does play favorites, that’s why it’s called luck. Post game interviews with both players and especially managers have to be taken with a grain(or more) of salt since everyone knows both fans and other players will hear of it. I believe Roberts was playing to the crowd as a sop to the fans, one cannot manage a team in LA and not be an accomplished front man. Getting people excited about statements, whether taken at face value or out of context, is where writers make a living.

 

Probably because there's far fewer Dodgers fans selling their tickets and/or showing up in the 3rd and leaving in the 8th.

 

Maybe this is why no one was talking about TB during the wildcard race…
