Test drove a Hyundai Tucson before buying Rav limited. Hyundai had a TON of creature tech comforts that rav limited doesn’t. The dash/speedo was busy when turning on side directional (side camera displays there). The remote park feature is cool. I chose Rav because of reliability and resell. I think the hyundai truck looks interesting. What will she be trading?

You people crack me up. So did you tell her that you're doing a poll on TacomaWorld and you will let her know if random TW users on the internet will allow her to get the vehicle she wants?

Are you happily married? If yes you say “yes dear” then shut up for life about her decision.

If you like the couch and your hand partner tell her the truth.

How many “rigs” do you have?

I also suggest that, unless you are sharing one vehicle (you aren’t) or what she likes strains your financial well being, you let her test and eventually select a vehicle as she sees fit. You can be the advisory board.

I’ll groan if my wife buys a time bomb (think Jeep Cherokee) when her Prius Prime goes to our kid, but if that’s what the heart wants, well….

Let her drive what she wants. The only vehicle I have a problem with is a Chevy/GMC. That’s just because we’ve had problems with them at work. That being said, if the wife falls in love with one and wants to drive one, so be it. Hell I drive a Jeep now and we all know that only assholes drive Jeep’s (at least according to the wife).

Does your family lifestyle support 2 “trucks”. A SUV and a truck are the best combo for us. Ski trips and Disneyland in the Outback, dirt bike and camping in the truck.

It seems like there is a whole lot of missing info here to give good advice. Does she want to replace a vehicle that you enjoy with the Santa Cruz? My wife can drive what she wants, as long as it is within our budget the same as my Tacoma was my final choice and it fits within our budget.

Married life doesn't need to be hard.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Drove a couple of Hyundai rentals and they were nice and seemed reasonably well made. Keep in mind they have no resale value. Woman at work had a Tucson and part availability was a problem when it needed service. Personally, I'd take a serious look at the Ridgeline, or mentioned before, how 'bout a Subaru Outback? I looked into those before getting the Taco, but would have had to have gone to Canada to get a manual trans, and even then they were only available in the stripped-down base model.

If you're trading in there's no better time. Used market is insane. Got an instant cash offer for $300 less than what I paid for my GMC truck in 2015.

    Check build thread!
I see a lot of newer Hyundais hitting 200k mi plus. I wouldn't worry about the reliability. I think the Santa Cruz is actually decent. It obviously isn't an offroader, but it apparently handles great on road. Let her drive it, and if she likes it, get her it. Happy wife, happy life.

When my wife is talking about getting a vehicle, I'm usually wondering how safe she will be in that vehicle if there's an accident. So, checking out safety ratings is usually my priority.
