Do you also tell her to not buy a dress she likes because you're waiting on the next model of you favorite brand?

    A bunch..and no build thread!
If she likes it, she should get it. You have your thing, she has hers. I have the Taco, my wife has a Jeep. I have a Harley, my wife has a Ryker. We do different things when we are apart and if one of our vehicles suit whatever we are doing together, we take that vehicle. Simple as that.

Someone said it already, Happy Wife, Happy Life.

I don't know much about Hyundai other than the 2012 Sonata my brother has. They had to replace the entire engine in it due to some defect some were subject to and they covered it even though it was out side of the power train warranty. It did take a weeks to get the work approved but they did it. They may not always make a great car but seems they stand behind them ok.

If your wife likes it go for it. You can always trade it off if it later don't work out.

Let her? My wife let me get my Tacoma. She can buy whatever she wants. She would ask my opinion. Hyundai is not the manufacturer of the Pony it once was. It has grown and learned.

I've never "let" my wife do anything. I think that's why we are going on 30+ happy years.

You should go and test drive it, feels like a sports car, reminds me of a coffin on wheels, the blind spots are dangerously terrible, of course it needs all the digital cameras, wait until it snows and slushy out you won't be able to see a thing, when changing lanes.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
I traded in my 2013 Sonata with 78k for the taco; ran great with absolutely no issues. The issues @Taco_mike73 is referring to were with the 2.4l Theta engine and is not what Hyundai uses today in their turbo and NA cars. Not crazy with design decisions Hyundai makes these days but they're solid little cars. Santa Cruz shares basically the entire front end with the Tucson.

If you can find one, go test drive it. You may like it. I was at a Hyundai dealer a few weeks ago and they had more used cars than new.

The answer to the OP's question is the two-word answer that has kept marriages together for centuries: "Yes Dear."

If I understand the question correctly, this has nothing to do with your wife's needs or desires. It's about how you think you will be judged by others if your wife drives a Hyundai Santa Cruz.

In 38 years of marriage I never looked at my wife as a bumbling moron incapable of making her own decisions. There have been times that I offered my opinion if I knew something she was unaware of:

Me - Sure an SUV would be great, but that cute little Escape isn't a good choice. Ask them to let you drive a used one.
Wife Unit - I want a new one.
Me - I know, but drive a used one, you won't be impressed. It's a cute little piece of crap.
Wife Unit - What do you think I should buy? (here is where I thought that my calm and reassuring support was going to pay off)
Me - If it were me, I'd buy a Toyota 4 Runner
Wife Unit - No, the front end look too growly...Let's get an Explorer.
Me - So the 4R looks like it's a big meany or something and that's the reason you would rather buy an Exploder?
    Wife Unit - Yeah
    Me - OK

She's still happy with it. WTF do I know?

I agree Hyundai has come a long ways since their junk car Pony.Let her test drive one and you will both be happy with her decision.

Friend has a Genesis coupe; great car.
We have a new company car Veloster N; been great and fun.

My girl wanted a truck and came home with our TRD OR; so suppose we are on the other side of the spectrum here.
