That looks good, if that's what new Sequoia looks like, and it should. Those will be popular.

The new Tundra Pro Hybrid, is basically a full size 4WD Prius.

I don't know how previous V8 owners will respond to the hybrid.

Toyota was one of the few manufacturers to push back against CARB. I don't like the V8 has been cut but the engine was probably at the end of its life cycle and probably at its max potential. I would like to see a different V8 option but that is probably significant dollars to invest in a new engine platform given the amount of sales the Tundra gets.

I would have been happy to keep the same engine with upgrades in other areas. I drive work trucks with the GM 6.0 with less power and torque and those trucks are rated for 10k+ payload and towing.

I am hearing that the hybrid will require 91 octane. I hope that is not true

A hybrid won't affect fuel octane needed. But the turbos MIGHT.

I really wanted to like it and wanted one, but can’t get past the exterior, so bloated and ugly asf especially the rear.

Someone posted about the octane requirement regular or optimal performance to use 91. But typically when you put turbos on the engine compression is lower so i'm thinking no higher than 91 will be needed.

Definitely no higher then 91 is needed, as that's the highest available at most stations.

I wonder if Toyota is working on finding a way to reduce weight on the Hybrid Tundra?

The panoramic sun roof looks nice, but I think getting rid of it would be the sensible thing to do.

She takes the plastic engine cover off, revealing a top-mount intercooler.
Fuel tank now extends below the frame (like the 4Runner and Land Cruiser), which means you'll need a beefy skid plate if you decide to take it off road.
Crawl control is smoother and no longer makes loud noises.

Are there any picture of the new Tundra frame? I'd like to see just the chassis with out the body on it.

The car like front end on the new Tundra, and other 1/2 tons are moving in this direction. Has me thinking that light duty trucks are only a generation or two away from becoming unibody vehicles.

Toyota is constantly doing R and D. Weight reduction I'm sure would be considered.

I see they are using a mix of steel and aluminum body panels. I wonder why Toyota isn't using aluminum on all of the panels. I guess the body is steel and was the original design for the new Tundra. Could an all aluminum body be what is next for the Tundra?

I'm going to be in the market for a Tundra in the next year or two. Ideally would like to get a Limited with hybrid but the numbers so far reported for the TT6 is similar to the Tacoma. I get about 20-21 combined in Phoenix.
But also....living in Phoenix with that panoramic sun roof during the summer is going to be a disaster. I hope that it has some type of shade or hopefully find it possible to order one without. It will probably be part of a package that I want. The moon roof is tolerable.

Even these ones? Always thought this gen was pretty nice looking, and pretty much the perfect size.

Yes, even those, although they reminded me of the 2000-ish Silverado for some reason. The early versions of the current generation are the worst in my opinion. I don't like this upcoming one but I should really wait to reserve judgement until I can see one in person.

Edit: my personal tastes tend to favor trucks with sharp lines. I tend to like GM trucks right out of the gate and love the 3rd gen Tacoma. Ford usually has to build on me. I tend to dislike trucks that seem too rounded. For this reason I don't care for the 2nd gens Tacos that much, or the above mentioned Tundras. I can also apply this to trucks like the Ridgeline, current Ranger, and the early 2000's F150.

I also tend to dislike trucks that are obnoxiously bulky. The current Tundra and RAM trucks come to mind. I love the Raptor though!

That Tundra is about the size of a current Taco. The guy that owned the business next to me had one. I pulled my 2nd Gen Taco next to it and they were about equal....
Both have gotten huge since 1st gen.

That's fine. What am I going to say? I drive a Ram. When I was checking out full size trucks in late 2015, early 2016, I didn't even make it off the dealers lot in the Tundra. Always disliked the cheap plasticy interior of my 2008 Tacoma. Why buy an 8 year newer truck with an eerily similar craptastic cabin.
