Definitely a weird one. Plantation in the front and Frank Lloyd Wright in the back, but build in 1971 haha those columns are steel by the way o_O

No reducers around at shops (wow).........ordered this (5 each): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L4K7CVQ?ie=UTF8

Thanks! It sat on the market for over a year. Owners had bad attitudes and there was so much stuff in that house it was straight out of “Hoarders”. There were only small trails you could walk through the house that didn’t have shit stacked to the ceiling. Not to mention the work required to get it decent.

Thanks haha yeah, it’s currently haunted by my Great Dane’s great flatulence. That and really bad handyman work over the years. Open splices behind walls, paint stirrer drywall shims, you name it, we got it!

Ten points for anyone that can tell me what someone was trying to accomplish with this-
    07C270EE-4A83-46BC-8C37-35E2ACB8E92A.jpg
these were live wires right outside the breaker box. No tape, no nuts. Soldered together with what appears to be an inductor inline on the hot leg and two braided wires (yellow stubs in the picture) that were soldered on the wire.

my guess is someone was trying to filter noise or interference from a satellite or audio equipment being powered. I guess limiting the risk of fire and electrocution was less of a priority haha

Haha that movie reminds me of the first house I did. Total gut job. Bought it when I was 23 and hungry to learn. I gutted all the bathrooms, kitchen, roof, plumbed and rewired it all, crazy fence etc etc. damn near every square inch needed something

Haha yeah that was the dining room. Lots of measuring to make all the picture frame moulding spaced correctly. I had to tone down the chandelier when we listed the house. I collected a lot of crystal chandelier drops in Greece and these gilded church relics I used in the corners of the room. I made a six foot wide mirror mosaic octagon ceiling medallion and strung drops to it. It was a bit over the top… haha might still have a picture3C0A796E-5947-4570-98A5-86CE8421EF4A.jpg09F364C4-B37E-47A4-8007-9C249501A0F7.jpg

Removed an old doorbell that didn't work when I bought the place. It was battery operated but behind it I found these two wires.

How would I check if these wires would work if I opted to get a wired doorbell? I touched them and didn't die so there's that.

They should go back to a 12v or 24v transformer somewhere. Perhaps in the basement ceiling?
