Sounds like it’s time to make room for a tig! FWIW, Everlast welders are legit and affordable. In the event you are in the market for one. My tig is a powerpro 205, even has a plasma.

I almost never work with aluminum so if anything I’d grab a spool gun and small bottle of gas to run off my mig. Not enough room in the garage for another machine anyways lol

It’s not just about aluminum. For the longest time all I had was TIG. I learned to appreciate what you can do with TIG over all other forms of welding. Yes it’s a learning curve. Yes it takes lots of time behind the torch. But, MIG will never match the precision and ability. I think anybody that is in this world in any way, and does lots of their own work should invest time into learning it.

Couple clips I got of the wife driving the truck today. Her driving definitely changed her mind on the money spent on truck parts

L bracket from the spare mounting hole on the pump to the motor mount and everything seems solid. Pump, reservoir and cooler are mounted. Pluming tomorrow before we get snow on Tuesday.

I tried but couldn’t get the phone in there to see it. But it’s a very simple little L bracket. Hardest part was measuring to get it to fit correctly. But got it bolted in with the 1 good existing mount and busted one bolted up and in place to where it was. Time will tell if it’s good enough but it feels solid. The one existing mount is the important one that locates the pump where it needs to be. The other just helps with deflection and rotation.

Well it’s up and running again. Either the new pump or the aired up tires at 40psi to make it easier to push are making steering much much easier. Only shimmied around to park so the wife could get in the garage before snow tomorrow but so far so good. I’ll air back down to my normal 15-17psi at work tomorrow and test things out a bit

Less rolling resistance makes for a definitive change.

Aired down drive home from work. Steering is very light now with the pump. Still tough at a stop but did some testing and if I bump the idle up to 800-1000rpm it should make significant improvements with that so I may mess with the tune some. All in all very pleased thus far

    Too many to remember
The pumps don’t really start making pressure until about 900rpm. You have an auto right? If so I’d assume you drive with two feet in the dirt so just make sure you keep the RPMs up especially when coming into corners hard on the brakes

Yep it’s an auto and I go back and forth with 2 foot driving. Need to get back into it and lock in the muscle memory and stick with it. Was more thinking for in the rocks though. Where I’m barely over idle and barely moving. Shit from today I’d say anything over 2mph and 1500rpm and the thing turns like a dream and I manually shift the trans for desert stuff and keep the revs from 2-4K 99% of the time. But could also 2 foot and bring the revs up in the rocks as well which I’m always driving 2 foot then.

Could always raise your base idle to help in the rocks too.
