I bought a new Tacoma a few weeks ago, and since day one it has had this whining noise while accelerating. It's especially noticeable between 55 and 60, but can be heard at any speed, but only when pressing the accelerator. Is this something to be concerned about or is it just normal Tacoma?

My pal, it could be your rear diff. Mine made a howling noise from the back at similar speeds. Long story short, I took it to the dealership (2021 Trd OR) and they had a look, big chunks of metal in the rear diff. Replaced the whole thing under warranty, its been in the shop for 3 weeks so far. Please get it checked!

Sounds like rear differential howl mine has been doing it for awhile now . Took it to the dealer inspected everything . They added a sound barrier tsb to help with some of the noise . It’s still present just not as loud anymore . It’s pretty common on the off road 4x4 . Lots of people have the noise and even went the route of replacing the differential and noise came back . Unless Toyota comes out with a new design pretty much stuck with the noise till they come out with a real solution to the problem . Hopefully yours is not like the other guys where he had chunks in the plug .
