Fumoto Fact(s) You Might Not Know

Crikey! Just checked the price on this kit and >$500 for the adapter and inverted spin on.

 

A couple of those rare earth magnets stuck on the pan would be good, too

 

I have literally never changed a crush washer on any vehicle that I've changed the oil on(car, truck, dirt bike, bobber, crotch rocket, 4wheelers, mud truck, lawnmower, pressure washer). With the exception of when I put a magnetic drain plug in my CR250r dirt bike. It got a new washer because it got a new bolt. I've literally never had a leaking drain bolt. This includes the '78 CB750K that I have, which is the oldest vehicle I have. I have so many vehicles that the amount I spend on oil/filters is pretty nuts.

 

My question is, if as you say "bad idea, seems failures can happen easier" Then why are quick drain's used universally on piston engine aircraft? I do not know more of a more mission critical application than aviation and it tendency to be unforgiving

 

it’s a freaking chore but it’s worth it. I used a planning tool from one of the landscape websites. Bluebird or something. It helped me quite a bit on the design layout.

I’m in the desert southwest. I’ve got about $800 into valves and PVC. I opted for commercial valves. Cost a lot more but when they fail (and they will) you can rebuild the commercial units. I had homeowner grade but those change all the time and parts are not as easily sourced.

I run Tiffway419 in the summer and perennial rye in the winter. Just dropped $100 on a 50lb bad of bird food.

I’m still eyeballing reel mowers….right now if got a Honda and it’s pretty nice but a reel mower has no equal.

My company spent $$$$$$ to adapt Toyota methods to remove "points of failure" in the workflow, exactly like those you had with your valve.

 

True, but with a magnetic bolt you clean it off easily and get that crud removed out of the pan.

I had plenty of time to eyeball reel mowers in my youth, I spent many hours sweating behind this 60's "Silent" Scotts.

I mowed every lawn in a neighborhood filled with people who were either old, retired or dead -- all of them cheap!
One lady would give me $2 and a stick of gum -- yes a stick, not a pack.

 

Looks like you can get it off no problem... getting it back on is a another story. LOL

1. I don’t need any tools to change my oil.
2. I don’t make a mess.
3. I don’t get oil running down my arm.
4. I don’t have to worry about how hot the oil might be.
5. I don’t get any oil on the topside of my skid plate.
6. I drain the oil directly into a jug. No oil pan to wipe clean.
7. I don’t have to fish-out the drain plug from the oil pan.
8. I don’t have to reuse a crush washer.
9. I don’t forget to install a new crush washer.
10. I don’t forget to install a crush washer.
11. I don’t mistakingly install two washers.
12. I don’t incorrectly install the washer. There is an orientation to these washers if you weren’t aware.
13. I don’t cross-thread the plug.
14. I don’t over-tighten the plug.
15. I don’t under-tighten the plug.
16. I don’t forget to not install the plug.
17. I don’t have to torque a plug.

 

That's not the right kind of washer. This is the one most people use, it goes on either way. The kind you posted is used on the diffs and t-case, though.

Thanks for the pictures. That’s a pretty cool idea. To be honest I’ve never even considered filtering oil between changes. I do like the idea of being able to drain out water from the oil too.

 

You can the drain plug out and install the Fumoto without spilling a drop of oil now, instead of waiting for the next oil change.

Looks EXACTLY like a video I would create to trick my friends. Also Looks like a lot of work. You know- you could just drain your oil into a very clean container and pour it back in OR you could filter the oil through my bypass filter setup, lol.

Let me know when any of you are going to do this. I will drive wherever you are to watch, root you on, and of course VIDEO you too!

yea, I get it. This questionable method could be employed for those times you want or need to remove the plug without any oil coming out. I’d have to see this one to believe it. Make sure your dipstick has a good seal on it!

 

I am not making a case against the product or anything like I said I’ll probably get one but realistically none of these things are really a problem. Draining into the empty jug is definitely a plus also not having to worry about oil temperature but nothing else I ever experience when changing oil.

 

This one I have to guess because the oil pan and valve are not sitting 8 inches off the road and potential hazards. Again I’m not opposing this valve for the right application but come on guys little common sense.

 

Have you EVER overfilled your engine and needed to remove 1/4 of a quart or so? If so, this valve allows you to dial-in your fluid oil level easily.
Have you seen the number of threads about too much oil? They wouldn’t be asking the question if they had this valve.
