Started my search for a TRDOR DCSB 6MT, Premium, Tech, Led, in Red/Green/Lunar Rock on 10/8/21.
No deposit, just told the salesperson what I wanted.

My salesperson said that what was available was missing the tech package. So the search continues…

    Good luck everyone.

Thats awesome! I was going to post a week ago that my sales guy pretty much told me they aren't getting any 2022 allocations, and toyota is pretty much sending them anything and they can't change it. He asked if I would switch to silver from wind chill, and I told him no. To me, this is a huge purchase and I don't want to settle for anything that I don't want.

Well this is all bitter-sweet. It is exciting to see an 'allocation granted' but discouraging to see some are not getting 2022 allocations. Hopefully we will still have an MT for 2023.

It’s October of 2021, you basically have a full year to find a truck. Don’t lose faith just yet haha.

The dealership I am using is KC Summers in Mattoon Illinois. I know they are getting multiple Tacoma’s in around the same time. What the specs are or any other details I can’t tell. I saw the one closest to what I wanted and discarded the rest. Should have looked closer and reported back.
I do know they are all 2022’s. They basically are getting what Toyota and the local distributor says they are getting and they haven’t been successful in making any changes or substitutions. The salespeople are frustrated as well.
I started out requesting a 2021 in Cement to now being in love with a 2022 AG. I really do hope it works out for everyone and know the waiting is rough. The day I first went I did so with my wife who wasn’t looking for a car and ended up driving home separately in a 2021 Highlander. I have had to look at her new Highlander every day since and she wasn’t even looking for a new car I was. And I’ve been driving a minivan so it’s been rough.

I'm sure we will all have to get used to the inclusion of the "Quick Charge Cable Package" on pretty much every allocation. They have done a great job of packaging up $12 worth of cables for the totally reasonable price of $70. Well played Toyota, .....well played.

Are the folks who buy at or below MSRP trading in a car as part of the buying process? If the market adjustment isn't coming from the new car sale, they want it on the used car (though ideally both from their perspective).

I ordered an OR DCLB last Friday and put down the deposit. The official Toyota line is 6-12 months, the sales guy I bought my 2018 OR DCLB from said it's more like 4-6 months.

I know. I’ve thought the same. I know what I want and already have a tentative quote on my trade in that I would be happy with. I mentioned the trade in early in this process and the cat was already out of the bag. As much as it will pain me I can always walk away when it gets here. But if things go as I think they will I will be happy. If not I will be less happy but not feel taken.

I'm in Orange County California, but Im using mountain states toyota in Denver Co. Went through costco to find a dealer thatll actually do good pricing. The local dealers were jerking me around and Im not paying the crazy mark ups.

I agreed to put down a deposit for a Lunar Rock DCLB off road in mid August and am still waiting. I did mention I would be open to other colors, but would prefer the Lunar Rock. They said it could be 3 months to get a truck, or maybe longer due to the circumstances. The salesperson explained the allocation system and that I wasn’t ordering a truck pretty well. I understood what I was getting into and am anxiously awaiting more concrete details.

Ultimately, I’m kind of flying blind just trusting I’ll get something. I wish there was more visibility on the process. I get it - I know it’s a crazy situation and I’m not the only one waiting, but I do wish there was more transparency.

Feeling the same way. My salesperson did say that there were a few that matched what I wanted but all were missing the Tech Package.

Looking for the color options. The Toyota website doesn’t show the pro - and it looks very limited in its color choices

If your looking at building a Pro you need to input a zip code for any Gulf State Area and you can build it. I’m in Texas and it allows it on there. I’m pretty sure it’s the only region that allows you to do the build function on the website so far.

Interesting strategy, I like it. I started through Costco as well, but there were no dealers in my area.

Certainly if you can close at or below MSRP, the numbers make sense. Even with shipping or flying to drive it back, you come out ahead.

I can confirm SoCal dealers are rather silly. I went into one dealer with another dealer's price in writing *and* my saleswoman wanting to close the sale. The GM wasn't a jerk, but he most certainly was screwing around rather than actively trying to get to the situation to a logical conclusion.

    And so I left.

Better yet, no dealer addons/addendums, so its pretty much the 700 below msrp plus ttl and thats it.

Right on. The add ons should be avoidable if you get the truck in your name before it reaches the lot--otherwise it's probably getting a pro pack, VIN etch, tires and/or lift before going in public view. But gotta go out of state to avoid the markup, it seems.
