1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels

This is probably a non-issue, but with all this talk about shift logic, it makes one wonder if the manual guys will be able to run these tunes that are in the works? Just like everyone else, I'm waiting patiently chomping at the bit for a better tune!!!

The manual side is easier because there's no AT-style shift logic to worry about

I [and my business partner] am the former owner of Coyoza Tuning and the creator of the very popular Coyoza tune for the 3GT 6MT, and I am confident that when the tune is dialed in that YW will be able to provide a tune that MT owners love.

Incidentally, my own TT Tacoma was 6MT.

I'll email Ryan again. I also get an aggressive lunge forward when I'm stopped and give it a little gas.

All I did was over the tune. I haven't touched anything since. I didn't reset anything. I'm assuming it can all be done in the software? I'll look shortly. I know when I did ovtune originally he reset everything. Thanks

I can definitely vouch for this. I've been interested in the SC for months. A while back I went through every single post in this thread and decided not to move forward just because of the Magnuson tune. I have an aftermarket tune that runs and shifts like glory (even with all the weight I have). There's no way in hell I'm going back to stock or shitty shift logic just to get a few more hp's. Until there's a great tune option out there, no SC for me.

I have to thank you @MGMSangTaco because it was one of your posts a while back that got me to hold back on purchasing the SC. I feel like a lot of people that commit to getting the SC don't give the proper testimonial bc after all, they just spent $7k on it. And although it might give you a bump in power, shifts like poop.

All this recent talk about other tune options are getting me excited!

I can't get a reply from Ryan. Very odd. And any changes, even tire size should slightly adjust the tune. I have had many tuned cars in the past, and a simple data log, and email back and fourth results in an adjusted tune file. I agree, I'm not sure why Magnuson is so conservative? Maybe they dont want to risk anything and have people point the finger at them? I heard from many tuners its due to Crapifornia compliance. Either way the kit itself if capable of much more.

The kit itself is very nice, OEM quality. I would only buy if I had the extra cash to burn like I did. At $4999 my opinion might be a little different. I like the instant power while driving (Although nothing crazy), there is no lag there anymore. The shifting and stop and go needs to be touched up. I'm still on the fence on how I feel. More cool factor/flex piece than anything.

Is Magnuson not on here? I wonder if they follow along.

?? think I read somewhere (probably the Cali Gov Web Site where the CARB Cert is posted) that our SC were Carb Cert for 8psi max - surely they can do more but the Tune was for 8psi max.

Maybe he's at a little higher elevation and seeing a bit less boost as a result?

This is exactly what I gathered reading everything on this. I just can't yet justify it.

I'm in Florida. Sea level. Live right on the Atlantic. What are you guys seeing PSI wise?

At 1100’ I’ve seen brief peaks of at or near 8psi in 3rd gear for a split second right before the rev limiter comes on.

I can tell you that the difference between 6000'+ where I drive everyday and near sea level where I was on vacation is massive. So much more impressive down low where there's air.

is the TRD exhaust system sufficient as well does the TRD air intake need to be upgraded?

I took out my TRD filter and replaced it with a Dry filter. I have the TRD exhaust with URD Y pipe. I might change out the muffler to something less restrictive.

To answer your question. No, you don’t need to upgrade the intake or exhaust to really gain anything from the Magnuson tune.
