Ya, I wouldn't or only put them up if I knew I was going on a trip/trails.

As for the kill switch, here's a couple links.

    https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/fuel-pump-kill-switch.410804/

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/88252-kill-switch-mod-write-up.html

I've also seen people disable a vehicle to protect it in sketchy areas like removing fuses, relays, etc. But you'd have to repeat the process every time you park it or leave and that can become a PITA.

As for surveillance, finding the perfect dashcam to match your needs can be a rabbit hole of information. Try this thread I started and go from there. You can always ask @USDashCamera for what he would recommend. Solid dude.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dash-cam-recommendations-for-2021.710741/

    Hope this helps

Why I have el cheapo Amazon LEDs... No where near Baja's performance but I could buy 20 sets of these for the single price of one Baja. So if they get stolen or damaged meh.

The amount of unlocked stuff I see people tossing on their trucks, some people have more trust in humanity or more money than I do.

like @theolee said it really is a rabbit hole of information and choices. You'll often see a lot of people recommend cheap chinese dashcams from Amazon, and many of them actually are decent.

really comes down to your budget though. If you really want something cheap but still good you can get one under $100. But often times paying a little over $100 for something like that Viofo A119 V3 or the Garmin Mini 2 gets you better quality and what I would go for in a budget cam.

Once you start wanting more advanced features the price can shoot up quickly. Most decent dash cameras now have a parking mode. Parking mode is usually a lower power state that records motion or impacts while your truck is off. But not all parking modes are equal, cheap cams will just wake up and start recording moments after it senses an impact or motion. Higher end brands like Blackvue and Thinkware are always prebuffereing 10-15 seconds (depends on the model) of footage, so if it does sense motion or an impact it then saves a 30-60 second clip that includes that 10-15 seconds before the event that triggered it to record.

Viofo and Garmin also have parking mode but I would say Viofo's parking mode is hit or miss, depends on the model, and Garmin I haven't tested enough my self but am currently reviewing the Mini 2. Personally I wouldn't go without a front and rear camera, and for parking mode I prefer Blackvue or Thinkware cams but some of Viofo's cams with front and rear also have automatic buffered parking mode.

My current setup is the new Blackvue DR900X-2CH Plus (new as of September 2021) with the CM-100 4G LTE module that allows me to live stream even when my truck is parked and I am away from it. If it senses an impact it will send my phone a notification and save that clip to the cloud. That setup not including a bigger memory card will run you over $650 with tax. So thats how you can go from $65 for a decent cam that just records while driving, to an advanced cloud based camera 10x the price.

Thats why I always tried to get a place with a garage.

Because people aren't boxing tweakers in the street? Your comment reeks of arrogance.

Has anyone hit the Corte Madera Rd trail loop? Is it moderate?

More commonly called Los Pinos Mountain Loop

    https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/los-pinos-mtn-loop/

the last few times I’ve been up there the gate was locked, then there was the valley fire last year that closed everything up at Corral Canyon.

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/cleveland/recreation/ohv/recarea/?recid=78497&actid=93

I’d call the ranger office in alpine before going up there. Long drive to get turned around at the gate and if you want easy, the only trail that is always open is Sidewinder and that’s not an easy trail.

I figured, I see alot of temp closed on most trail apps but figured things would be slowly opening up by now but hell, it's always fire season in SD .

We used to frequent corral canyon as a kid and I never knew this loop existed lol. I'll definitely check in with the rangers to see what the situation is before I head out, good call.

The lady and I are always looking for local easy/moderate trails to explore and see how far the prerunner will go. Growing up in SD it seems like everything is gated off or shut down now a days...

Theres lots of groups that don't want us using these trails, be mindful of who supports them. Last time Corral Canyon had a fire they tried to shut it down permanently.

If you know there is almost zero chance of any repercussions for doing something, you are more likely to do it.
If you know there is almost 100 percent chance of repercussions for doing something, you are less likely to do it.

How is it arrogance to understand cause and affect?

    Your comment reeks of cowardice.

    :rofl::rofl:

i agree there should be more consequences for crime in this state, but thats a conversation not allowed on this forum…if you cant see the arrogance in your statement, I can’t help you. My comment reflects thinking before acting. Yours do not.
