Well the hood latches were installed because the hood edges were coming up at speeds over 60. Which I think was a by product of my stock core support coming apart. I kept the factory hood latch when I ripped out the core support but the hook/catch on the hood side has since broke off so the hood latches are what currently keeps it closed.

Time to make a custom carbon fiber hood for weight savings :boink: I hear @kasnerd is pretty handy with fiberglass, carbon fiber is pretty similar isn't it? :D

Weird, either I've not yet had the issue, or I'm just blind and deaf. I do have the crosswind Kazoo.... That's annoying.
I'll just throw hood pins on the 'things I might need later' list.

Do you have an aftermarket front bumper? A lot of guys that switched bumpers have seen it and others haven't, seems like a roll of the dice. Mine was so bad I was honestly waiting for the hood to fly up in my face (which did happen to some people).

Si. Have for the last 25k miles. Only thing I had fluttering were the inner fender liners which got slowly cut back until I just finally ripped them out. This is a Coastal WIY HC front. I welded it myself, so it's not perfect, but it's good enough for me and has already paid for itself by bouncing a deer off. Might help mentioning I have a hood scoop, which may make a difference on the fluttering issue.

I thought it was door seals that flap in heavy crosswinds. I saw a thread on here that said if you add supplementary piece of round rubber seal behind the existing seal it goes away.

they can but i had my windshield replaced and it went away. it came back with another windshield replacement and Harry had my broken ghetto windshield swapped and it's not there anymore. So pretty sure that's what was causing my kazoo... I'm waiting for it to happen again. lol

Nice looking truck. I would say if your hood isn't dancing to come off in your face you don't have to worry about hood pins.

Saw your dv videos of the silt. Crazy! I'm heading down that road in a few weeks with my PreRunner and some other 4x4s. Did you out get stuck at all on that trip? My 06 has the mechanical limited slip and I plan to just stay on the gas

No one got stuck. But we didn’t wander off any of the main roads within the park. That was the only sketchy part. If you can find a way around that silt bed I would suggest that. Not because you won’t make it thru but the amount of dirt that gets into you air filter and you AC system and generally everywhere is crazy. You will be very dirty the rest of the trip just from what is all over the truck and all your gear. I know it’s wrong to go off trail but there is a bypass to the left but it didn’t seem any better than the main route. Maybe walk it and figure it out??

    Did a few upgrades
New Headunit from aucarauto.com 12 inch screen deletes the AC controls and puts them onto the touch screen or use the buttons on the bezel.Has wireless apple carplay or android auto. It is completely plug and play with the OEM harness..JBL and non-jbl.

The radio comes with a GPS antenna but I wanted to use the sharkfin that came on my truck. Sadly the 2012 only has an XM antenna in the fin...so I removed it and glued in the antenna that the headunit came with after breaking it out of its little case. Since I removed the headliner to run the GPS antenna wire from the headunit to the shark fin I decided to put some kilmat onto the roof. Turns out 25sqft of mat will do the roof and 2 doors.

XM antenna in the shark fin. As you can see there is a provision in the fin for a GPS antenna....just not installed into a 2012 shark fin

Just got my JD Fab LCA brace kit and LT installed and the springs are all settled in now. Before I lock in the cams I want to make sure the alignment is all good. I’ve taken my truck here for alignments before due to this recommendation. Is there a particular tech who did your alignment? I usually get a young kid.
