I agree with this to an extent. For the most part it is pretty accurate but to your credit I'd like to see at least an 8 team playoff. Hell they could probably even do 16 without expanding the current schedule. But, to your point, Boise State would often get the cold shoulder because their schedule was pretty weak even though they were beating said opponents like 52-7 every week.

 

There’s 0 reason to go to a 16 team playoff. Even 8 is too many. I’d be ok with 6. Otherwise, the greatest regular season in sports is ruined. You shouldn’t be able to make it if you lose 1/4 of your games, which would happen with 16 teams.

 

Not likely. It just depends on how they do it. There could be automatic bids or it could be strictly rankings. Zero reason for one loss teams to automatically be out. Alabama is the best? Let them prove it, not just someone's opinion and two games. And not a fan of a 6 team playoff because no teams should get an automatic bid to the 2nd round.

Why shouldn’t they get a bye? It rewards winning. Want a bye? Win. I’m assuming since you’re from Michigan that you’re a wolverine fan, so I know that “winning” thing and not being rewarded for losing 1/4 of your games is a hard concept to grasp

 

Not sure where you keep getting this 1/4 number from. What the hell 3 loss team is ranked in the top 16 at that point anyway? Not counting if some spots were guaranteed by conference. And no, I don't want a bye, especially when the top teams are determined by the opinion of a committee. Earn those wins against the other top teams. Prove why you're the best.

And I didn't say Bama is guaranteed to be out of the playoff now, but they're currently ranked outside it (not considering the CFP poll hasn't come out yet.) You take an L at the end of the season and you're pretty much done. You take it at the start and you can recover. No one is proposing a 64 team playoff like in basketball. Given that you're a Georgia and presumably SEC snob, I would assume your lack of wanting an expansion is a result of possibly feeling threatened by having to play more games. If Georgia is the best, let them prove it outside their normal schedule.

 

lol. Yes. Threatened by expansion. You guys bitch and moan that the SEC teams get ranked too high already, and I thought heads were about to explode when UGA and Bama both made it in 2017. I can Only imagine if the SEC were to get 4+ teams Into a 16 team playoff. You’d think that me being a UGA fan, I’d be excited for expansion. We would have made the playoff every year since Kirby has been there except 2016. But, nah. You want in the playoff, win your games. Looking at this from 2019, 1/4 of the field would have lost 3 of their games going off of the CFP rankings (and 5 would have been SEC teams). So yea, let’s reward those teams for sure! I mean hell, might as well let Vandy in, too. After all, Any given Saturday blah blah blah.

 

It wouldn't have mattered if there was a 96 team playoff... Nobody was beating LSU that year.

 

I wonder how Vanderbilt would do in a legit knowledge bowl vs other programs. Vandy is always the butt of jokes in sec/college football. #respectacedimics

 

I stand by my opinion. I'd like to see 8-16 teams in a playoff and actually make it a real playoff system...not this 4 team BS gimmick. And no one should have an automatic bye into the second round. Not even a fan of that in the NFL.

It doesn't have to be a straight top 16. It could be guaranteed to power 5 champions and 3 at large bids. Or top two from power 5 and 6 at large bids. Lots of ways to do it. Besides, the 16th ranked teams in the playoff would still be better than the 16th ranked teams (4 of them) in the basketball playoff. Hell, even college hockey has a 16 team playoff and there are FAR fewer teams.

Tykee smith out for the year with a torn ACL. What the hell is going on with practice/strength and conditioning???

 

I do not like hearing this anymore than you. I have been waiting for him to return to play all season. But remember Tykee has only played against Auburn and that was in a limited capacity (I believe). Gaining him back in the rotation would have helped, but in a way UGA is still the same. The secondary stepped up all season to fill this void and have done so this far already. Another injury to the secondary could be a big problem and it seems UGA has had more than it’s fair share of injuries as of late. Especially knee injuries over the last few seasons. Might be an issue within their S&C program. Might be bad luck.
Whatever it is GO DAWGS & GATA and let’s hope the rest of the team gets healthy and stay healthy

I know he hasn’t played, but now Christopher Smith is hurt (at least it was an in-game injury) and probably won’t play this week. Secondary has been the biggest question mark on the defensive side of the ball, and not getting an all American in the rotation hurts. The secondary can’t afford any other injuries at this point. We’ll probably have a preferred walk on starting in Smith’s place.

 

Diving in here. I'm looking forward to some more upsets today. The playoff rankings are going to be a mess.

OK State v UT is exactly why I dont bet $. OSU barely beat Missouri State and should have lost to Tulsa and Boise State.

 

WVU is on a bye but I’m confident Neal Brown will find a way to +1 the L column.
