In sort of Tacoma news, I think my wife and I decided to keep my AC Tacoma even with our upcoming baby due soon, use our tiny Lexus NX for as long as we can stand it then upgrade that to some sort of bigger vehicle.

Our original plan was to ditch the Tacoma since it can't accommodate a car seat, maybe get a 4runner or something. Now our plan is to hold out as long as possible and upgrade the NX to a RX (she loves the Lexus interior). If only we were rich, i'm really digging the brand new LX600. We never would have bought a NX originally but got a super duper family discount deal from my Grandpa once he stopped driving.

So, now back to modding the Tacoma! Currently looking for a mid-rise shell.

The way this is worded sounds like you’re keeping the truck and not the baby. In lieu of means instead of.

I’m sure you’ll adore all 3 of them.

Congrats on the kid and keeping the truck! Especially the truck!

I’ve been mulling over the same issue now that we’re starting to more seriously talk baby but at this point I think we’re gonna see what the new 4runners look like next year and get my wife one of those. Then I can keep my Truck and use her golf she currently drives as a DD/kid hauler.

We just picked up a 2018 Highlander with low miles, it was $37k on the used lot certified pre-owned. If the chip shortage doesn't stop relatively soon, it will only get worse. 50/50 shot in another year it will be even worse.

If the rear of the next gen 4runners look anything like the LX600 then i'm already all in on where Toyota is going with their designs. The front grills for the Lexus' are a love/hate... i personally don't mind them. Lexus is on our short list, but the next 4runner could be too. I've been hearing though (from the 4runners.com forum) they are being pushed back to 2024... hopefully that's not true.

Thankfully she works from home already and i'm trying to get a WFH job as well. If that's the case i think we would be fine with a single vehicle that can be a dedicated child mover.

Hopfully they look more like the Fortuner.

We have a '16 4Runner and absolutely love it. Curious about the new ones as well.

At 81k miles do you guys think it's about time I change spark plugs on my 2011?

I only average about 16.25MPG per tank and it's disappointingly low IMO.

Are you 4 or 6 cylinder?

If you never changed them, then you are way over due. Spark plugs are every 30K.

Nope they have never been done, google says Toyota recommends every 60k but I still kinda doubt it will improve MPG much if any.

That being said OME ones last stupid long. I changed mine at 145k and they were OG and going strong. New ones did a world of good though.

Luckily my lady works from home too and I'm on a hybrid schedule these days so not super urgent on getting a new vehicle if the 4runner is delayed.

I'm mostly curious to see what it looks like and what the powertrain options end up being. I've been reading the rumors online but until Toyota makes an official announcement they're only rumors.

Agreed. I mean it seems unlikely it will get the same TT v6 the Tundra has... so either a N/A v6 of some kind, or most likely the turbo 4cyl with a 8 or 10speed auto. Not mad about it, i'm sure Toyota can figure out the reliability with turbos and such.
