Ty BTW what does the TRD exhaust sound like compared to the stock? Does it help subduing the V6 busy buzz?

It sounds pretty stock. Most exhausts sound like crap on this truck.

I had the TRD exhaust on my Pro and thought it sounded good.

Had a stock exhaust system and went to the TRD Pro exhaust system before I added the SC. The SC makes it sound better than pre-SC. Nice low tone across the board with no buzz or ear-ringing what so ever.

?? mZiggy --- see you are now behind the wheel of the Tundra. What happen to your Tacoma? I know if I was in the market for another truck I'd be looking at the new Tundra with the twin turbo. Hopefully the Maggy Tune with a real shifting logic fix will come out before the Gen4Tacoma hits the market.

My TT Tacoma was running excellently, was really fun to drive, loved it. But ultimately I just found myself still missing a good ol' v8, I just love vee-eights, and I wanted something a bit bigger and lastly, even with turbos I was just overall still feeling like I was driving a tall car rather than a proper truck. Idk, just eventually got tired of feeling that way so I moved into a Tundra.

WRT the Mag-SC, there's some info I've been trying to figure out: if the MAF/housing is replaced/larger than stock and if so, what the diameter is. Hopefully somebody here with the kit can help me out with this info, or at least if someone happens to know.

A Mag-SC owner mentioned something to me about the IAT sensor having been moved post-intercooler, which makes sense, but I'm assuming Magnuson kept it maf-based and left the MAF in relatively the same location? Idk.

    Thanks in advance guys.

Trade-in or open market sale on the Tacoma? Mods like a SC or TT are the one thing that make moving on a potential cluster.

Trade-in to my preferred dealer. They were super excited about it and I got more for the truck than I paid for it too.

Purchased brand new in Aug 2017, cement TRD Pro 6MT, got it at $1k under MSRP

the connecting points are OEM with regard to diameter and location - nothing really changed MAF or other. Only piece terminated is the ACI.

Droned like crazy for me. COuldn't stand it when I test drove a TRD Pro. Also would add - unlikely it increases hp, it’s designed like a noise maker.

Got the notification yesterday that my Magnuson supercharger shipped from URD! So I’m guessing Gadget has a few in stock. Of course FedEx already delayed the shipment ETA… LOL

Oil, filter, coolant, plugs, boost gauge, 90 degree aluminum NPT fitting, strap wrench, torque wrench, hose cutter, and a partridge in a pear tree all ready to go!

A little update on the upgraded (fx250) clutch I posted about a bit back. For a refresher it’s a hybrid organic on one side and 8 pick ceramic on the other clutch from clutch masters.

it’s still working well and I’ve more or less gotten used to how it engages and disengages. My racecar has a clutch feel almost exactly like the stock Tacoma clutch. I can definitely tell them a part now.

after putting on some miles here’s what I notice.

    1. It’s much more noisy than a stock clutch. I get gear rattle at idle that you can hear with the windows down. Not badly, but it is there. There is also significant rattle if you are bogging a gear. Easy fix is to not do that lol.

    2. It’s pretty aggressive. The stock clutch felt like there was about an inch of travel from the point the clutch starts grabbing until when you take your foot all the way off the pedal. This clutch it’s more like 1/4”

    3. you can still shift smoothly, but you must be very precise because it will not forgive you if you go too fast.

    4. It’s still just as easy/hard as before to back up a trailer. It slips less, but is more jerky, so kind of an even break there.

    5. for performance it’s exceptional. I don’t just chirp second anymore. I straight up lose traction for a second now if I shift at redline in 2nd. I wouldn't be surprised if I could chirp 3rd on a aggressive shift.

Overall it’s a worthwhile upgrade that you can get used to. I’m happy with it, and would reccomend it if your clutch starts slipping from 10k miles of the SC like mine did.

Ok so everything looks to be here. Question for you guys that recently installed one of these.

I went through the steps, downloaded the VF software and driver, went back to Magnuson and filled out calibration form 1 and 2. They responded very quickly and within a few hours I got the calibration file. It says next step is to connect the ECU and flash the calibration. Just want to confirm that this is indeed the last step on the tuning side. I read somewhere in this thread or the other that I have to email VF tune? Was that during the early stages?

No, you only have to email Magnuson. vFtuner only provides the software to Magnuson for the tune. They have nothing to do with magnuson's tune for the kit.
