Yeah, the bedside stamp on the TRD Pro certainly implies that they're leaning into it harder than ever, as does the bigger-than-ever stamping on the new Tundra.

It seems weird to me that they'd stamp something into a panel and then sell stick-on emblems to fill it back in, for any reason other than to make money on those stick-on emblems. And at $160 a set (MSRP if your truck comes with it), they certainly are making money...

Yeh those die stampers aren't cheap. They'll be around for a while.

They will do like Nissan does by using the Titans Frame rails under the Frontier.

I'm sure it's purely stylistic, but doesn't stamping a piece of metal make it more rigid as well? Isn't that why we roll seams into large sheets, to add stiffness? Possibly a nice consequence of stamping those pieces.

It might be a little selfish/stupid, but honestly I won't be mad if they do away with the manual on the next gen so that I won't have any desire to get one lol

When you talk to Toyota tell them to do it in DCLB next gen instead of DCSB

Watsup with these huge letters on the tailgates? Did they get it from RAM or something? I’m not a fan to be honest.

I seriously believe it is a cost cuttng thing, stamped metal is cheaper than badges and stickers.

    Interesting, very well could be.

Why make the stamping so huge though? Haha.

Just a guess, but I would think the larger it is the easier it is to stamp cleanly and the tooling would probably last longer too.

Stamping over a larger area should help distribute the stamping stress through more metal, isolate stress risers in the sheet, etc. Larger stamp would probably help the panel a bit during expansion when heated up too. I'm not an ME tho, just thinking of it from an FEA perspective.

Huh, interesting. Please don't make it look like the new Tundra though.
