Thanks for the suggestion but I think I'll just buy one replacement for the Denso Iridium that is bad. Seems like a waste to buy all new ones when everything is running well. I knew about the NGKs, but went with the Denso.

 

I run these ngk's now as well. i think they are better but the ik22s aren't bad

 

I just started having knock sensor trouble again.. after every shift my truck was pulling timing. so I figured out my truck has destroyed another denso knock sensor. I put a 1990-1999 Herko Gm knock sensor in it now. Its working way better. I had to weld an adaptor for it (I took a big nut the sensor threaded into and welded it to a bolt that threaded into the block. then made an adaptor into wire harness.) I mounted it right next to the starter above the oil pan where there are some empty bolt holes. edit* both knock sensor wires are spliced together running to one gm knock sensor ...WHY DOES THE SUPERCHARGER RUIN OEM DENSO KNOCK SENSORS?

 

I created this new sticker to replace the one under the hood.
Accurate for my 2001 2WD, seems there are quite a few different vacuum routings for other models.

 

just did some pulls on the way to work and the gm knock sensor is letting the computer push more timing then the denso

 

only had one set go out in 675,000 miles.
Has never been an issue.
Did you buy them from the dealership?
There are fake ones in Denso boxes every where

 

first ones were stock the othert from napa. i get all my parts at napa now

 

can anyone hint as to why the poor gas mileage, i replaced the spark plugs to FR7, fuel filter, air filter and while it runs outstanding i get around 140-160 miles to a tank. Now when i reset the ECU, the first tank i get about 260 miles out of a full fill up?? anyone thanks

 

it was cold here today and my truck was rippin up the mountain. got to work and as the truck was idleing it sounded like the supercharger was eating itself super loud metal on metal grinding. took the belt off and the coupler has a massive amount of play and the nosebearing wasn't locked up but felt nasty spinning it. i swapped back to my stock intake plenum. do you think its just ate its bearings? nosecone and rotorpack bearings? rotors can't contact eachother as long as the gears are intact right? there is only 12k miles on supercharger, ......I'm pretty sure my desert trip in 111 degree heat cooked my bearings. here is the kit i got to rebuild. man NA is super slow, the supercharger really wakes the truck up.

 

If you don't check your supercharger oil level or if it is leaking through the rotor seals the bears will go south.
When did you check your oil level last?
If the rotor pack bearing fail the rotors can hit each other. 12k on a new supercharger?
Warranty time?
Superchargers don't fail at 12k if rebuild was done correctly,
If its 110 degrees you definitely don't want to push it at full boost tho.

 

there was 12k miles on it total. it has never been rebuilt. i was checking the oil level daily because of the leak. i think my trip in july did more damage than i thought. ive been trying to get my monitors to clear for smog so the last month I have been back on the 2.37 pulley.

 

I would send it in on warranty

 

I would have sent it in but this one is might be my fault. I think anything would have failed in those extremely hot conditions. hopefully its just bearings. Thats what it feels like anyways... I have this hill by my house I always test the truck out on . I can just hit triple digits on it with the supercharger, now that its back to stock my truck barely went over 70 up it.

 

@Milor. If you have access to a warranty it might be worth sending it in even though you may feel at fault. The trip through the hot desert may have just aggrieved something that was already an issue from the factory and simply caused it to fail sooner. If the warranty doesn't want to fix it then you can do it on your own like planned. It might be worth it in the long run

 

i pulled my supercharger apart and foundout my nosecone was fine and the bearings felt good. the coupler needs replaced as its holes are wallowed out. I think the problem was in the rotorpack bearings. the left rotor was eating into the rear housing of the supercharger

 

This should have been a warranty issue

 

I'm going to call magnuson mon morning. upon further inspection it looks like the front rotorpack bearings are toast allowing the rightside rotor to move enough to hit the case.. If they don't take care of me I'll order a new rotorpack and toss it in. who has the best prices on rotorpacks?
