Seems like a PR excuse to justify rising prices since it's the same level of production from November of last year. Also specifically Japanese factories producing almost entirely non-USDM vehicles.

Have you been to a dealer lot recently? There is literally nothing there. I'm sure they would rather sell cars than raise prices.

The local Toyota dealer near me has more dodge and chevys than Toyotas and has a Mercedes and bmw in the showroom.

Agreed, but they've artificially raised prices in the past when the semi-conductor shortage first started that they weren't hit by (only until recently have they tapped out their stockpile). They rode the demand increase wave and now they have to cut back. Their production was relatively the same until around August.

Also, I believe that a lot of the shortages right now are a tactic of the longshoremen and teamsters to up their piece of the pie.

The tin foil hat brigade contends that Toyota, Teamsters, governments, etc are conspiring to make these things happen. I suppose it's easy to reach for conspiracy theories when complex systems begin to falter the way the supply chain is now

Haven’t seen “collusion” theories in this thread. Supply chain? Things don’t just happen with no causes. I’ll leave it there. Plenty of good articles speaking to this. ;)

See posts 2, 5, and 8. Collusion and conspiracy are not the same thing

Those are lists of causes, some likely not true and one I concur with. Your mileage may vary.

Teamsters and longshoreman combining forces to make the supply crisis worse in order to increase their bargaining power is not a "list of causes", and neither is positing that Toyota is cutting global production by 15% as a "PR tactic" so they can justify raising prices. Those are straight up conspiracy theories with no basis in reality.

You can have any sort of opinion you want bro, but we do not live in a post-truth world. You can't just say things and make them true because your little bird brain can't process the complexity of what's actually happening.
