Let the hunt begin! I am unsure if it is live, it was hidden behind a battery operated doorbell button but that too was busted.

I'll admit, i did not watch the video since I don't have an voltage tester but that is something to look into if i opt for a wired smart doorbell

My transformer is in my breaker box as well. My home inspector said current code is outside the box, but it's not new construction so no need to move.

Rough idea being thrown around. My fiancé and I are thinking of doing a yard wedding in the next year or two. This all includes us buying property and excavating, etc.

The question for the group - I would build an oversized separate garage or barn on the property first. It would be used to store the Kubota, chainsaws, woodsplitters, etc. It would be ideal to have power on the property for the wedding to avoid the generators making noise running all day. We would run power from the street to the shed/barn and have a small panel there. How would this work if we build the house afterwards? Can we run power to the main house and then to the shed or am I now stuck running from the street to the shed to the house? Does that make sense? This is all new to me lol.

I would think that if you know where the house will be, you could mount the meter on a pole and run power to the shop with minimal modification when the house is built. You could also just leave the meter on the pole and have two runs from it. One to the house and one to the shop. I'm no builder/electrician though.

When my neighbors built their workshop one year and their house the next this is exactly what they did.

How far is the house going to be from the shop?

Just had that thought too. Mount a poll/post as my meter and then run to the shop/barn and have a small panel there.

Haven’t figured out distances yet. Haven’t even completed the land purchase. Just makes the most sense to me since we will own and clear the land slowly while we hope to have building prices come down a bit. Plus we are in a good house now and have no rush to move!

That's basically what I'm doing for my garage. The meter will be by the main power pole and will then split the feed in two so one line goes to the garage and one to the house. Basically the house and garage become "subpanels" with the "main" panel being at the pole next to the meter.

Do you need power for your weddings? Wife and I did ours with no power at it was great. Though smaller (only 40 or so people) but with led lights we didn't need power. We did have a small live band though. Would depend on time of year and stuff too

Replaced an almost 30 year old garage door opener with one of those ranch new ones. Much quieter, 1/3 hp to 1.25 and the lights work!

That's the pre-stack. I can get two cords in each side if I take my time.

Wish I had a pic of my FIL's wood shed. Stack is so tight, you'd be lucky to squeeze a fart through it. Rows are spaced a couple feet apart, so still gets good airflow. He's retired and wood processing is like church for him.

Nope. Left wide open all season. The front roofline overhangs a good few feet so that helps with rain a bit. It will also sit there for at least a year before it's up for burning.

Did you steal a beer out of my basement!!?? I thought I was one short out of the 28 pack I bought from Sams.
Good beer I like it alot. I am not a friend of the IPA trend. Good choice in beer - wood looks good to -one thing I never mix with chainsaw cutting is beer drinking!
    maybe stacking but never cutting

Agree on the IPA. The furthest I go is a pale ale from the Georgetown brewery called Mannys.

No chainsaw today. Splitting only. And that was the first of several, well deserved, finished-for-the-day beers.
