What battery jump pack are you using?

Well my Stanley Fat Max is on it’s last limb. I’ve been impressed with the longevity from this thing (10+ years). However, I’m not thrilled on it’s weight nor size.

I have already tried searching the TW forums for discussions but didn’t have much success for any recent posts.

I’ve heard great things about the

Noco GB40 and 70. I’m sure 70 is overkill but rather have more than less, especially with the consideration of owning a diesel in the future. Are jumper cables a thing of the past now with the portable Li-ion technology?

I’m not entirely sold on going with any brand in particular, I just expect the same longevity and durability as I’ve been accustomed to by Stanley’s unit. For personal reasons I’d rather not buy from Amazon or eBay.

I’m still keeping an eye out for deals. I struck out in the deal section with expired promo codes when window shopping.

Any input is appreciated.

I haven't used it on my own vehicles yet, but I've jumped 2 neighbors on 1 charge so far. The engines didn't struggle at all. It's a beast.

My regret is buying the case for it. Case is ok, but it comes with a bag that would have been sufficient for me.

Edit: just noticed your anti-Amazon sentiment...not sure where else to buy these. Also, I hope you never need it once you buy it!

Hey Scheme, thank you for taking the time to reply. I’ve found that advanced auto parts carries Noco and I may have a hookup on a discount, may require a 6 pack bribery. The more I’ve checked , Noco looks like the way to go. It’ll only cost me ~$40 for a new U1 for my Stanley Max but I like the discrete and portability of the Li-ion Noco packs. I’m going to settle with Noco and replace the U1 as well for a little bit of redundancy.

I bought an off brand 3000 amp jumper for the company truck.


In hindsight, next one I will buy will be a bigger pack. It's nice to have one to jump yourself, but remember that half the time you're using it, you're jumping someone else.

Noco GB40 & 70 on Amazon Prime day a few years ago. I've used the 70 a handful of times, to help folks out with a jump. And we used em both as re-chargers for our cell phones, while we were without power recently for Hurricane Ida.

 

NOCO is the best bud, you wont be disappointed.

 

I started typing but I had to tend to my onion rings, almost got them a little too crispy. The secret’s in the batter.

I picked up a gooloo 2000 during a flash sale on Amazon based on this video. Haven’t had the need to use it but I’m sure it’ll work if I need it.

 

Last winter, my '06 Tacoma was the jump pack. Battery in the Chevy froze, it was 7 years old. This winter the Tacoma battery is 6 years old.....I expect it to die.

I will use our '02 Chevy TrailBlazer for the jump pack to my Tacoma.

 

That's great advice. Thanks for your experience regarding the 40s I'm not too pressed to buy one but rather have it and not need than need it and not have it. I'll keep an eye out for deals, with my luck they'll all be snagged up.

Solid video, admittedly I subbed to this guy a few days ago and this is the first time I've sat and watched a video. His content is off the charts and very well documented. That Gooloo kicks some serious ass. However the little viking and micro start seem to be problematic.

NOCO GB20. No issues with it so far.

 

NOCO products are overbuilt. That’s pretty rare these days. 100% my choice for anything battery related.

I recently bought the GB50 using the code. Read good things about the GB40 but decided to go up slightly. Haven't used it yet.

 

I have a GB40, and have used it a couple of times on GM V8’s. It worked great. I got a GB20 for my daughter’s Sportage.
I think jumper cables are mostly worthless anymore. I’m not going to risk my trucks electronics to start someone else. Plus I always remember the time me, my wife and two kids were stranded in a crowded parking lot with a dead battery and jumper cables in hand, but nobody would help us.
